I haven’t torn the camera apart either to see how easy a DIY battery replacement would be as (I love this cam) this may damage the IP waterproof seal. In all honesty, in a couple of years, this camera will seem pretty obsolete so you probably won’t be worrying about the enclosed battery anyway. The Xiaomi MiJia 360 action camera uses a 1600mAh non-removable battery. Battery life during testing was excellent with the MiJia easily recording over an hours 3.5K 360 footage and taking over 30 360 pictures before I received the red LED low battery indicator. Although it maxes-out at 4K/30fps, Sony's 4K shooter does have some unique features, most notably a smart-watch contraption that allows a remote live view, and control. It's also got almost dream-like image stabilization. These 360 photos look fantastic and can be edited to your heart’s content via the Mi Sphere app. You also have to option to create tiny world photos like the one above that look great. Additionally, although the Xiaomi Mi 4K does offer some electronic image stabilization technology, in our opinion it is dated and definatley showing its age. The latest Akaso and Apeman advanced, next-generation electronic image stabilization blows the Xiaomi tech on the Mi out the water without even being comparable. On top of this, due to the Xiaomi Mi 4K not using a similar factor to the GoPro range, it is a nightmare to find a cheap gimbal stabilizer for the camera that can provide you with image stabilization.

You also have an amazing level of control over the image and video as this device provides you with super-specific settings. You can also control the camera through the Mi Home app. DJI did have an interesting experiment with modular design, now seemingly abandoned, with the Action 2, but they do retain powerful magnetic mounts which can even partially survive the heat of an oven (we tried accidentally – see our full review). In terms of field of view, the MiJia Mini’s is slightly narrower. I actually prefer this as with the GoPro I spend a lot of time moving in closer to the subject.
