About this deal

It is the Pro 2 2500 that ultimately gets the winning vote from me, because you get the benefit of a travel case in the box. According to you, you are not able, to feel a difference in strength, if you compare the “Daily Clean” function! Just cleaning your teeth regularly and with the correct technique is a big step forward in ensuring healthy teeth. Where the Smart 4 perhaps stands out more, is the Whitening mode, which could potentially be more effective at removing surface stains on the teeth and helping them to look whiter than they once were.

I actually found an earlier reply of yours (two actually, to Scott and Sue below) wherein you pointed to the manual and the difference between the “Professional Timer” and the “2 minute Timer”. The Pro 2 2500 comes with 3 different brush heads (CrossAction, 3D White or Sensi UltraThin) compared to the 2 brush heads (CrossAction or 3D White) of the Pro 3 3500. With most Oral-B electric toothbrushes, it is not very easy to tell which cleaning mode you have selected. I would like to do the default DailyClean and after that change the mode to Tongue Clean after the 2 mins of DailyClean has finished. The battery is designed to be resistant to overcharging so it is OK to leave the toothbrush on the charging unit 24/7 so it is always at full charge.Almost all Oral-B brushes have a timer built-in which will give an audible tone via a pause in the brushing at 30 second intervals and then at the end of the 3 minute cycle. It's still large enough so you can grip onto it easily without it feeling too chunky, which we can imagine - from a design perspective - is no easy feat. Depending on the specific model you have you will either have to press the power button multiple times to change the mode or there may well be a separate button (under the power button), with a downwards facing arrow (>) that you press.

If a smart toothbrush is really what you want, then the Smart 5 5000 or the Genius X from Oral-B are the brushes to look at. Almost all Oral-B brushes have a timer built-in which will give an audible tone via a pause in the brushing at 30 second intervals and then at the end of the 2 minute cycle. This has been addressed in the range topping iO Series, which displays via the screen on the brush handle which mode is selected. Essentially you have top back left, top back right, top front, along with bottom back right, bottom back left and bottom front to get your 6 sections with 20 seconds spent cleaning each of the 6 sections. Clearly these were probably due for replacement, but I’d prefer not to encourage them to drop out because of the type of toothbrush I use. It's common knowledge these days, but everyone is recommended to spend two full minutes cleaning their teeth. While the Oral-B Pro 2 2500 doesn’t boast the glamour of its pricier counterparts, it’s still a fantastic bit of kit for the money, offering anyone in need of a new electric toothbrush the fundamentals: good brushing performance, great design and exceptional value.
