There are so many places to visit here including ancient sites, magical tidal islands and even the very ends of the earth itself! These included interviews with the author, illustrator, and animators, and views of the actual village and the fisherman's cottage which was an illustration of the author's own cottage. The illustrations are quite beautiful and I really like that, within neither the story nor the illustrations, do the cats ever behave like anything other than regular cats. I loved seeing some of the positive windows around here with displays of rainbows, cats, mice and positive messages. The storm in the book personifies a cat so not only can this book be enjoyed purely for its content, but also useful in school to teach features of writing. Many say that the name Mousehole comes from the Cornish word “Moeshayle”, meaning “young woman’s brook”. That said, I have a personal reason for being interested in Cornwall, and it is a popular vacation destination in England. Relaxed Performances are for adults and children who might benefit from a more relaxed environment, or are uncomfortable with sudden lighting changes or loud noises, including those with an Autistic Spectrum Condition, sensory or communication needs or a learning disability.

It is a custom still observed today, in Mousehole, on December 23rd, and The Mousehole Cat is a worthy tribute to that practice! Set right on the coast of the village, you can stroll along the harbour walls and get some amazing views of the coastline and St Clements Island. As you walk in you’ll find an array of gifts to take home from art, postcards, mugs, magnets, pottery and more! Ever since, on the 23rd December each year Mousehole celebrates Tom Bowcock’s Eve, when everyone dances, sings, and eats Stargazy Pie. Others have noted in old travel books like “The Land’s End District” (1846) by SirEdmundAntrobus that it comes from a hole in the cliffs nearby.

Being an avid Poldark fan, I was on the hunt for some of the top filming locations and stumbled upon this serene cove on my adventures. It isn't repetitive or annoying, it has an actual plot that includes funny bits (for instance making it very clear that the cat is in charge in this cat-human relationship), excitement and even a rather touching, heartwarming scene when the old fisherman decides to sail out and save his starving village so no young man has to risk his life. St Michael’s mount is 500 metres away from the mainland and can be walked to at low tide in the day. One of the sweeter things to do in Mousehole with a good cause is the Mousehole Wild Bird Hospital and Sanctuary. I wondered if this brave sojourn occurred and hoped their town really honours Tom and Mowzer, with loving and grateful reverence at Christmas.

Even as far back as the year 600AD, there was a religious chapel built on the isle in honour of St Clement. You’ll see colourful surfboards and kayaks up against the walls, anchor ropes keeping boats at bay and you can chill out on the sands. This film should appeal to family audiences as it features all the mystery and charm of a children's story but also enough depth and a detailed, intelligent narration to keep adults interested. Another spectacular spot you can visit in south Cornwall is Marazion, pronounced Maraz-eye-un’, which is home to St Michael’s Mount. Antonia Barber really knows about ballet - her daughter studied ballet from the age of three and attended the Royal Ballet School junior associate classes at Sadler's Wells.

Their boat makes it safely back to the harbor, to be greeted by the entire village holding lanterns to light their way. It is the story of a cat names Mowzer who lives with her human Tom, an old fisherman, in a coastal English village names Mousehole. Near Christmas, this perilous storm kept villagers inside their port; cutting them off from food supplies.

Our performances may be filmed or photographed and the material may be used by Cousin Jack's at any time for evaluation, promotion or other projects. As well as exploring the church, you can find St Levan Stone outside which almost looks like it’s been split in two. This is free to visit and you can find it along the main road two miles south of St Buryan on the B3315. The book has won awards, including the 1998 British Book Award for Illustrated Children's Book of the Month. Many people were killed in the invasion and houses, holy places and livelihoods were completely burned to the ground.

A beautifully illustrated book, which mingles history and legend to tell a stirring story of heroism and storms at sea and a very special cat. Mousehole (pronounced Muzzle in Cornwall) is a real fishing village and, although not obvious, the story is a Christmas story, Mowser has a wonderful pet human, Old Tom, whom she really loves. Cousin Jack's will give away as many tickets as they are able to (they're aiming for at least one family per show) and they will inform you if you have won tickets a minimum of three days before the event.
