When the man arrives, she gives him a love-gift, something that will arouse his love or erotic curiosity, saying, “This is for you alone, and no one else, to enjoy.” I always find this book interesting and not for the commonly thought reasons. Yes it is a book about sex, but it also a book that leads up to the act by discussing social climates, moods and behavior, psychological conundrums and mindset and energy. There are bold pictures here, showing positions and processes that are interesting as well, and yet the overall read drew my eye to the words, with the plates and pictures as a compliment, always. Y: Indeed, woman want a climax that takes a long time to produce, because they desire is eight times that of a man. The woman lays on the edge of the bed with her legs hanging off. The man then positions himself between her legs and lifts her hips and thighs to allow penetration, while she supports herself on her elbows.

t makes for interesting reading to know how Vatsyayana's Kama Sutra was first brought to light and translated into the English language. It happened thus. When Ananga Ranga was being translated, frequent references were found to the sage Vatsyayana whose opinions were also quoted. On being asked who this sage was, pundits replied that Vatsyayana was the author of the standard work on love in Sanskrit literature, and no Sanskrit library was complete without his work. But it had become most difficult to obtain the work in its entire state. The copy of the manuscript obtained in Bombay was defective, and so the pundits wrote to Sanskrit libraries in Benares, Calcutta and Jaipur for copies of the same. These were then compared with each other, and with the aid of a commentary called Jayamangala, a revised copy of the entire manuscript was prepared, from which the English translation was made. This commentary was most useful in explaining the true meaning of Vatsyayana's work, for the commentator appears to have had considerable knowledge of the times of the older author, providing very detailed information in some places. There are only two commentaries which have been found on Vatsyayana's work - Jayamangala or Sutrabhashya, and Sutravritti. The date of the Jayamangala is fixed between the tenth and thirteenth centuries A.D., because in the description of the sixty-four arts, an example is taken from the Kavyaprakasha which was written around the tenth century A.D. Again, the copy of the commentary procured was a transcript of a manuscript which once had a place in the library of a Chalukyan king named Vishaladeva, as is evident from the following sentence at the end of it:

What are the most popular sexual positions in the Kamasutra?

Take pomegranate and cucumber seeds, extract the juice of elabāluka (eluva, Gisekia pharmaceoides) and bhatakataiyā (Solanum indicum, eggplant). Cook in oil over a low heat. Use it to massage the penis. It will remain swollen for six months." Get a bigger flute!" "Increase ur Size! 6" "Don’t walk with tail between your legs." "V|agr.a, C|a.li5, and Phen.term.|ne CHeep!!" This is not a book about sex positions, but it's also likely not as "interesting" as you think it is: even the second book for which this work is famous for. It all gets a bit repetitive. This one definitely won’t work for everyone. In fact it will only work if the man is extremely well endowed.

The Kama Sutra by Vatsyayana is a great book that gives a detailed description on several aspects on sex, love and marriage in Sanskriti culture. There's a lot of cultural information in this collection of tales and advice that is really interesting and rather surprising. These examples are made using the highest ideal/potential one can work towards. It's not the general standard that was actually lived by but the standards a person was meant to aim for. This position is quite challenging; it requires a great deal of strength and balance from the woman. It would also talk about how best to cheat on your spouse, and how you could tell if someone was cheating on you. Some say that even massaging is a kind I embrace because it involves touching of bodies. But Vatsyayana thinks that as massaging is performed at a specific time and for a particular purpose and has a different character, it cannot be termed an embrace. Jyotirisvara, the author of Panchasayaka, was the most celebrated poet, the keeper of the treasure of the sixty-four arts, and the best teacher of the rules of music. He said that he composed the Panchasayaka after reflecting upon the aphorisms of love as revealed by the gods, and studying the opinions of Gonikaputra, Muladeva, Babhravya, Ramtideva, Nandikesvara and Kshemendra. None of these appear to be in existence now. His work contains nearly six hundred verses, divided into five parts called sayakas, or arrows. Nandi, bull companion of lord Shiva is said to be the first formulator of the Kama Shastras or rules of love that had one thousand chapters. It undoubtedly would've been helpful for me personally had I read this classic work as a younger man, rather than as one now approaching his 80's! Unfortunately, most Americans, hearing the name Kama Sutra, immediately think "sex manual". Here's how the 3rd cent. Indian author, Mallanaga Vatsyayanna, in the Epilogue sums it up:

There was also a couple chapters on sex, but they can be easily skipped if that's not your cup of tea. Especially the chapter on Eunuchs, just wierd. Y: For sometimes when a woman has made love with one man she may make love with other men who happen to be there. And so it is said: This position is ideal for an impromptu sex session. The man and the woman stand face to face and he stimulates her genitals with his penis before penetrating her. It is clear that the strong, sensual, even pornographic, content of the Nights can be paralleled elsewhere in Arabic literature”, writes scholar Robert Irwin in his 2010 commentary on the One Thousand and One Nights. Indeed, beyond the garden and the nights of Shahrzad, one can point to other works dealing with erotica, such as the writings of Abbasid scholar Al-Jahiz on the ways of young men and women, Al-Katib’s 10th-Century Encyclopaedia of Pleasure, and even the Assemblies of al-Hariri, a text from the Seljuk empire with passages on homosexuality. In addition, while Persian and not Arab, the 13th-Century polymath Nasireddin Tusi’s Arabic-language writings on sexual stimulants and various positions have recently become available to English readers as The Sultan’s Sex Potions.

Introduction

This stands as one of the greatest works of relationships, in many ways. It gets talked about as taboo or as outright disgusting old adult literature, but I disagree. There are many things going on in this book and the various positions, in talking, touching and physically exercising the usages here are myriad. Make no mistake, this book gets you going in many ways, but I feel that when the mind is stimulated, the heart and body follow along and the entire experiment yields the desired outcome. Sir Richard F. Burton’s translation of The Kama Sutra remains one of the best English interpretations of this early Indian treatise on politics, social customs, love, and intimacy. Its crisp style set a new standard for Sanskrit translation. It is not, in fact, a pornographic work, but a book depicting the art of living for the civilized and refined citizen, finding its expression in the sphere of love, eroticism, and the sensual pleasures of life. . . . Rather than calling the Kama Sutra pornography and hiding it on the highest shelf of their bookcases, Western readers should see it as the expression of a refined, sophisticated people on the art of love."

When a man has become educated, he enters the householder stage of life and begins the lifestyle of a man-about-town, using the money that he has inherited, on the one hand, or obtained from gifts, conquest, trade, or wages, on the other, or from both. He settles down in a. City, a capital city, a market town, or some large gathering where there are good people, or wherever he has to stay to make a living. The glowing triangle position is a simple, yet extremely effective, twist on the classic missionary position. O desejo, que nasce da natureza, é aumentado pela arte [...]. Um homem sagaz, que dependa das suas próprias qualidades, que observe cuidadosamente as ideias e desígnios das mulheres [...] é geralmente bem sucedido com elas;Only suitable for extremely strong and flexible men – he makes a bridge, while the woman straddles him. She can then move up and down by pushing off the floor with her feet – not for the faint-hearted! Extremely easy and perfect for a lazy Sunday afternoon or if you need to slow it down a bit during a long sex session. The author of Rasamanjari was a poet called Bhanudatta. The last verse of the manuscript indicated that he was a resident of the province of Tirhoot, and son of a Brahman named Ganeshwar, who was also a poet. Written in Sanskrit, it portrays different classes of men and women through their age, description, conduct and behavior. Comprising three chapters, it has not been possible to ascertain its date.
