The game’s origins lie in a hacked-up version of Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay and, despite some significant changes, the darkly humorous tone of the older title bleeds through every page.

I think doing so would easily overwhelm someone, and maybe even turn them off from the RPG genre if they thought every game was like this one. While the Grendel aren't above rape especially if they worship the Abyssal Prince of Pleasure, most of them have an easy time getting sex slaves by letting their powers do the trick or plying victims with the Wine of Bacchus. However, a sizable slice of the roleplaying population is going to struggle to enjoy playing a character that simply doesn’t appeal to them at first glance.I’d never really been able to decide what sort of games should have them and what shouldn’t, only they tended to annoy me. You can’t fathom the number of randomly generated tables in this game, which I have to say, is pretty unique.

There are tables for hit locations, injuries and magical mishaps, but nowhere is this this love more apparent than during character creation. The game has actually been out in one form or another for some time now, but its creators have just released this revised and retooled version of the core book. I have strong opinions on this and it just so happens that Zweihänder is the first game I have written about since I have been looking at since I have tried to address the issue myself. The general feel of them is more positive from seducing ladies in waiting to letting the player make multiple attempts to pick a magistrates pocket. However, changing fortunes also gives the GM a chance to use a misfortune to make a situation more dangerous whenever they want. Someone told NPC to look out, and I obliged by having him lean out the window, because the noble was supposed to be kinda naive. Combat is brutal and a high-risk affair, a misroll during spell casting may consign your soul to hell. Gold–Silver–Copper Standard: Zweihänder has a similar monetary system, albeit based on Old British Money: 12 copper pennies to the silver shilling, 20 silver shillings to the gold crown.

The only challenge with finding a group to play Zweihander would be connecting with gamers who like this realistic style. They brave the medieval sewers, full of diseases and instant death, armed with little more than clubs and a small (but vicious) dog, all for below minimum wage. Mana: For Archmages or Elementalists, high Corruption respectively restricts spellcasting or prohibits it altogether, causing their Karma Meter to double as a Mana Meter. The net effect is that being highly but rolling badly is still better than being unskilled but rolling like a demon, most of the time.Dense Anatomy means you're fighting up against something with a weird blobby mess for a body and it requires fire to damage.
