About this deal

When you realise someone else in doing the same thing you both perform the action and dump the card on the floor. Happy Salmon can be played with gestures instead of shouting (which I guess is how Greg played given his comments), which I would prefer to do if I have to play it. Each player begins the game with a deck of 12 cards, divided into four sets of three matching cards: High Five, Fish Bump, Switch It Up and the Happy Salmon itself.

Happy Salmon, published by North Star games and designed by Ken Gruhl and Quentin Weir, is a super simple to learn frenetic, family party game for three to six players. By rejecting non-essential cookies, Reddit may still use certain cookies to ensure the proper functionality of our platform.

However, they do have different coloured backs, so you can take the craziness of Happy Salmon from six to twelve players. Credit subject to status, UK residents only, GAME acts as a broker and offers finance from PayPal Credit.

Happy Salmon, one of the greatest party games ever made - not just my subjective opinion, cold hard fact - has resurfaced with a new remake from the makers of Exploding Kittens. One, I'm not usually good at keeping track of multiple simultaneously changing points of data (which is why I'm so bad at Ligretto, for example) or they're much too loud (which is why I don't like Pit or On A Scale of One to Dinosaur).

Monster Match is unique among speed games for one simple reason: more than 1 person can get a match every round.A game of Happy Salmon sees a group of people standing around a table shouting the same word over and over again, until they move onto the next action when that word will be repeated on a loop instead. The cards are thick and plasticity enough to survive being thrown on the floor and have different coloured backs so decks can be reset easily. Tarda més a arribar del que diuen quan fas la comanda però pots anar fent seguiment del paquet xq l’enviament a Espanya és amb correos. Perfect for families, youth groups, conventions and other gatherings, it’s a game that knows it’s niche and fills it well.

Happy Salmon is one of those quirky games where it’s going to take you longer to read this review than it would to just play a game of it – though, I’m going to try to get through the game as quickly as possible. After two short games at Origins, I was already hoarse from yelling and slightly winded from laughing through the whole experience. The aim is to match the card at the top of your deck with another player, performing the shown action to discard the card - high-fiving, fist-bumping, swapping places and slapping each other’s forearm like a flapping fish. And even though the game is still loud, the loudness is hyper-condensed to a brief two-minute burst where people just mostly shout the name of an action before quickly moving on. A player can almost always find a partner in Pit, and even when they can’t there are plays to be made (splitting a set, changing the collected suit).

Even the grumpy teenager, who when giving me a quote thinks he is too cool for this sort of shenanigans, but always seems to thoroughly enjoy it when he plays. There's four actions; a high five, a fist bump, switching places with another player, and the titular "happy salmon" where players slap each-other's forearms in a way that's meant to simulate a fish flapping around in dry land. Actions include the classic "High 5", the unifying "Pound It", the frantic "Switcheroo", and the delightful and bizarre "Happy Salmon". The actions are: High Five (fairly obvious), Pound It (a fist bump), Switcheroo (swap places) and Happy Salmon (a ridiculous flappy arm movement).
