About this deal

The storyline, a whirlwind of intrigue and betrayal, has been hailed as the greatest story of the 20th century and was the third title in the METAL GEAR series to become a hit in subsequent years.

I remember when metal gear solid first came out, me and my partner at that time, had a flat, you know, young couple, not too shabby, 28 inch TV that was the envy of friends lol Given the fact Konami has put Vol. 1 on the end of its Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection, it seems incredibly likely there'll be a Vol. 2 in the future. However, no official confirmation has been shared at the time of writing. There are rumours, though, which point to a second collection containing Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain (presumably with Ground Zeroes bundled in), and Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker. Metal Gear: Snake's Revenge wasn't worked on by series creator Hideo Kojima, so it's not considered canon. This is simply a neat inclusion from the Master Collection; the actual sequel to Metal Gear is Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake, not this. Play it if you like, but you're not missing out on much. am rolls on, the door goes and my partner walks in with friends and kebabs in tow, (remember, this was before mobiles were absolutely everywhere), and said where you 2 been all night!!! There aren't any noticeable changes to the original games aside from this. As a result, each one begins with a content warning, noting that some of the game's "expressions and themes may be considered outdated" but "have been included without alteration to preserve the historical context in which the game was made and the creator’s original vision." While this doesn't point to any specific examples, it doesn't take long before Snake's hitting on the first two female characters you meet in the original Metal Gear Solid. There's also a plot point that centers on the shape of Meryl's posterior, leering shots of Eva's cleavage in Snake Eater, discussions of some heavy incest themes, and a scene where the president grabs Raiden's crotch unprompted to confirm his sex, to name just a few controversial and outdated moments. These instances are cringy, gratuitous, and sometimes uncomfortable, but I also think Konami's approach is the correct one, otherwise each game would have to be significantly altered. Originally released in 1987, the first Metal Gear – directed by series creator Hideo Kojima, of course – adopted an isometric viewpoint, and was later ported to the Nintendo Entertainment System, which is the version we suspect the majority of you will be most familiar with. The sequel never actually made its way outside of its native Japan at first, but was eventually localised for the abovementioned Subsistence. Both actually represent pivotal parts of the Metal Gear plot, with the second game in particular connecting to Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain. More than anything, revisiting the series' humble beginnings essentially functions as a virtual museum, providing you with a fascinating look at how familiar elements began and then evolved as Metal Gear made the monumental shift to 3D. Both games--particularly Metal Gear 2--feel like blueprints for what was to come, establishing the foundations for Metal Gear Solid and stealth-action video games as a whole. Codec conversations, alert statuses, enemy-identifying radar, and gameplay concepts such as crawling through vents and using sound to draw the enemy's attention were all part of the series' roots over 33 years ago. Even if you have no interest in seeing either game through to completion, it's worth at least giving them a try to see where Metal Gear got its start. The visuals still fall well short of today's standards, but I'm in favor of retaining as much of the original games as possible. This doesn't mean Konami had to leave them alone completely, though. Other similar collections have added optional visual improvements, allowing you to swap between the original game and an updated version with greater graphical fidelity. Maybe this doesn't make sense in Snake Eater's case since a fully-fledged remake is already in development, but the Master Collection would've been elevated by including some optional advancements to modernize MGS and MGS2.

Also included: an exclusive digital Screenplay Book and Master Book that details the story and characters in Metal Gear Solid and Metal Gear & Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake.

The Volume 1 line-up features the original titles and beginning of the Metal Gear series, including the original versions of Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake, Metal Gear Solid (which also includes VR Missions / Special Missions), and the HD Collection versions of Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty and Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater. Said was I coming out I said nope, playing new game, he sat down on the floor in front of me to have a look and I kid you not, he was transfixed. While 4Chan can often post false rumours, it does have a history of posting accurate leaks, so we will have to wait and see. Arnna Hmm.. nothing done to improve them? Well, the HD Collection never included MGS1. The two NES titles (MG1 & Snakes Revenge) were never re-released before. The MSX versions of MG1 & 2 previously were only accessible in MGS3 (leading to people unaware of this when buying the original collection) and are now accessible on their own. MGS1 Integral which had bonus features but was only in Japan is now playable. Visual and technical Bugs that were in the HD Collection have been fixed. Trophies were added to MG1, 2, and MGS. New trophies were added to MGS2 & 3. You can customize your save file in MGS1 Integral for the Mantis section. New disc swap animation and option to switch between different regions is expected. Oh, you can actually pause cutscenes now (albeit, there's a delay but a new feature nonetheless). I guess it's petty, but everyone is still credited in each game, so...idk doesn't seem like too big a deal. It is pretty petty, but also...it's so petty that I both don't really care, and think it's kinda funny they'd do this little thing just to slight Kojima.

Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater was originally released for PlayStation 2 in 2004. The prequel to the original Metal Gear is set in the 1960s, and puts players in control of Naked Snake (aka Big Boss, the antagonist of the very first game in the franchise) on a mission set largely in Soviet Russia. Metal Gear Solid 3 introduced a camouflage-based layer to the franchise’s stealth-based gameplay, along with close-quarters combat mechanics.

It was probably 5 hours, the two of us, me with the wired controller on the sofa and him sat on the floor. KundaliniRising333 Schills? Interesting term. I concur that this release is far from perfect. Most of the genuine outrage I see is geared towards the PC Steam releases which have more concerning issues than console versions. As for the console versions MGS1 and 2 seem to be the only ones with some issues currently (sound and some visual effects) that can easily remedied in a patch. This not an excuse, but a mere correction to stamp out the exaggerated claims. MGS3 however, I haven't noticed any glaring issues on the same level. Some speedrunners claim this is the best modern re-release of the game. Snake’s Revenge– This ambitious Metal Gear sequel for Nintendo Entertainment System was developed with players outside of Japan in mind. New game elements were introduced to the series, including the now-mainstay searchlight mechanic. First released on the MSX, the Master Collection respects its roots by allowing you to experience the origins of the series. Played from a top-down perspective, these games are quite a lot different from the Metal Gear Solid entries, but they are important for continuing the story on from Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater. This isn't an essential playthrough, though. Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake Version Included

I personally am thinking they're just not wanting to record a whole ass other video for credits. As anyone that has worked on them can tell you...it's actually not that simple to get credits up and running, it's an actual video file they put in the game most of the time, and it's kind of a pain to re-record, and who knows if their names are still the same? People could have gotten married, divorced, just changed their name. The different launchers is weird, but there's a reasoning for the decision, because you can choose to buy the games individually, so they count as separate titles. Could've handled it slightly better on PS5 though, with them all occupying one space on the home screen, like how you could switch between PS4 and PS5 versions of the same game. Volume 1 line-up features the original titles and beginning of the METAL GEAR series, including the original versions of Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake, Metal Gear Solid (which also includes VR Missions/Special Missions), and the HD Collection versions of Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty and Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater.
