In a world of Jeff Bezo’s and Jamie Dimon’s, not many business professionals are quick to discuss Eric Carle, the entrepreneur, but he very much in his own right was. While his collage technique was fairly simple, Carle's art consistently conveys both a sense of wonder and real delight in his subjects and characters.

We discussed SYMMETRY- mirror images- same on both sides and looked at some pictures of butterflies and noticed the symmetrical designs. Show a picture of the artist, read one of his books and briefly talk about his life and his art work. It was the first full-scale museum in the United States devoted to national and international picture book art. We looked at Eric Carle’s caterpillar and decided that the shape needed for the body parts was an oval. Carle then used the same process to create the body of the caterpillar, cutting the tissue paper and the tracing paper at the same time.
