About this deal

The Vivomove works with almost any current smartphone. Support for Android and iOS is virtually a given, but Windows 10 devices will work too. As long as your phone has Bluetooth 4.0, the two should get on just fine. The colors and look of the Garmin Vivomove Style also make it more, well, stylish, so if you prefer the more functional, less delicate look, the Garmin Vivomove Sport is true to its name in that it's the sportier-looking version. The decision, then, might come down to style. This article examines the most recent three versions of this lovely watch collection. Which one is best for you? Continue reading to find out. It's a tough choice between the Garmin Vivomove Sport vs. Vivomove Style, especially since the two smartwatches are so similar. There are very minor differences that might sway you to one or the other.

The build quality of the Garmin Vivomove Premium is fantastic. The main part of the watch is steel topped with glass, and the strap is leather. Garmin watches like the Fenix 3 feel tough despite being made largely of plastic, but the Vivomove is in a whole different category.

The Vivomove Style was the first of these three watches to be introduced. It debuted alongside Luxe in September 2019. In terms of features, there is little difference between the duo. They have the same display, sensors, and specifications. The only distinction between the two is their case and price. For the sake of simplicity, we will concentrate on Vivomove Style in this article. Also, there is no sign of the much publicised ECG feature that landed on Venu 2 Plus a few days ago. It would have been a big ask for this to be made available on the hybrid, but next year’s edition might very well include it. So, to the million-dollar question: how much do they cost? The good news is that the answer isn’t contained in the previous question; alas, neither the Style nor the Luxe is cheap. For starters, the Vivomove Trend and Sport are approximately 40mm in diameter. As a result, they are smaller than the Vivomove Style 42mm. Those with large wrists may want to go with that option. There are a couple of features we'd like to see in a future version of the Vivomove too, even if it wasn't one designed to replace this watch. An alarm, and some way to light up the watch face at night, would be handy. Verdict

Because this is a hybrid, there are analogue hands on top of the smart display. They show the time in the same way that any other traditional watch does. When you interact with the smart display beneath, however, the analogue hands will move out of the way. To reveal the display, tap or swipe. It only appears when you require it. The hands of the watch dynamically move out of the way to reveal hidden display and even move in sync with the graphics. Watch them move in coordination with the graphics as you get closer to your daily step goal — or raise and lower with your heart rate during activities. Pay on the Go The watch is waterproof to 50m or 5ATM, so you can take it swimming or diving if you like; however, you'd probably want to get the silicone strap Sport model, rather than the more expensive leather strap version I'm testing. In terms of design, all of these are examples of typical hybrid watches. You can see them side by side in the image below. Garmin Vivomove Trend vs Style vs Sport Design If you want to avoid the typical smartwatch appearance, one of the Garmin hybrids might be for you. All of the fitness and smartwatch features are hidden inside and will only be visible when you want them to. As you might expect given the price, the Vivomove Sport is made of fiber-reinforced polymer for the case and chemically-strengthened glass for display protection. The Vivomove Style enhances this with an anodized aluminium case and bezel, as well as domed Corning Gorilla Glass 3. The Vivomove Trend has a fiber-reinforced polymer case, a stainless steel bezel, and a domed glass. Battery life: up to five days in smart mode and an additional week in watch mode (hands tell time only) Of course, each of these three watches is available in a variety of colour combinations. We won’t list them all here, but they are listed in the table below. Hardware below the hood

Another distinction is in the display. The winner in this category is the Vivomove Trend, which has a 25.6 mm x 18.8 mm liquid crystal screen. That is slightly larger than the AMOLED display on the Vivomove Style and significantly larger than the greyscale display on the Vivomove Sport. It’s also worth noting that the one on Sport is the only one that doesn’t support touch. I can imagine plenty of people who have no experience of Garmin's running watches wanting a Vivomove; it's perfect for those who are only after very light data. But as the Garmin Connect app is also designed to take in far more sophisticated info, from Forerunners and other sports devices, it doesn't feel all that well tailored to this particular watch. In terms of battery life, Garmin says the Vivomove Style lasts up to five days in smartwatch mode and up to an additional week in watch mode. In testing, it went down 50 percent in 48 hours. The Vivoactive 4, meanwhile, lasts up to eight days in smartwatch mode, six hours in GPS mode, or 18 hours in GPS mode without music. Setup and Navigation

Hydration Tracking

Like the Vivoactive 4, the Vivomove Style has a 5ATM water-resistance rating, meaning it can withstand pressures equivalent to a depth of 164 feet. It's safe for showering, swimming, diving, and snorkeling. Living with the Garmin Vivomove is just like living with a normal watch. There's zero faff involved, meaning it's worlds apart from the Apple Watch or any Android Wear watch. The Premium version is the weightiest of the three Vivomove flavours at 67g, but it's really no bulkier or heavier than a standard watch of this style. And – no prizes for guessing this one – wearing it feels just like wearing a normal watch too.
