Each answer is the perfect length to read at bedtime and written rather like a bedtime story too. It's a new approach to non-fiction and I hope that readers will love it! However, I did not shy away from questions that are hard to explain. Everyone who knows children will know they don't shy away from difficult questions either. One moment they could be pondering the world's worst smell, or how long it would take to count to infinity, but the next they might stun you with something deeply philosophical. Why am I me and not someone else? Why can't I remember being a baby? Why don't we live forever? Why do I like my friends more than other people? My answers to all these questions are in the book.

Ok, I will be diplomatic and choose a question from one of my own children: If everything is made of atoms, are feelings made of atoms? This question perfectly captures the way that young children will absorb new information, ruminate for a bit, then absolutely dazzle with their creative connections.

A story with a good message about finding friends and one of my favourite books this Christmas. Wind in the WillowsThe story begins in the Savoy Hotel where Johnny Trott is a bell-boy. When a famous opera singer and her beloved cat, Kaspar, come to stay, it’s the start of a sequence of events which changes Johnny’s life and see him ending up on the ill-fated Titanic. Recommended by ReadPlus!“Right from the very first chapter, ‘Shall I tell you a secret?’ where the author tells the reader that science is about asking questions, it is clear this will become a treasured bedtime or indeed, anytime book.” Our school Reading ambassadors really enjoyed this fascinating book. The Bedtime book of Impossible Questions answers those questions that you didn't know you had. Perfect for bedtime reading for those who ask 'why what when where and how', it will quench your child's thirst for unusual facts. Questions like why are bubbles always round? What is the world's worst smell? Why can't I remember being a baby? How many stars are there? And many, many more. The only issue one of our reading Ambassadors had was there is so much information for your brain it may keep you up past your bedtime! Full of fascinating facts and awesome illustrations, my daughter and I have barely scratched the surface of this large book that has almost 100 questions and answers. There are answers to questions I haven't even thought of! Each question is answered in a fun, accessible way and big concepts are explored with ease and joy. I am looking forward to finding out more truths about the universe, the world and all the creatures within it by continuing to make my way through this book. Every question in the book comes from this collection, apart from one. Are cats liquid or solid? was asked - and answered - by a physicist called Marc Antoine-Fardin. I often use it in school assemblies to demonstrate the sheer joy of using science and mathematics to provide satisfying answers to bamboozling questions, so it had to have an honorary spot in the book!
