Nadia was always destined for a career in illustration—as a child, she would doodle on her exercise books, while as a student she would doodle on her law degree notes. Then, when working as a journalist in London for pop music bible Smash Hits, she would doodle all the time on anything. The good people at Smash Hits didn’t fire her for doodling furry animals - instead they let her leave early to go to evening classes in illustration. This a great addition to the Grimwood family. This is the second book but you don’t have to read the first one for it to make sense because it has a recap at the beginning. Is the stranger a fox? Ted says, yes! but the rest of the animals in Grimwood aren’t so sure. They warn Ted about going out looking for trouble, or as Ted puts it, looking for mom and dad, but Ted won’t give up that easily. This was a fun story to read. It had action, adventure and suspense throughout. There were laughs and giggles within. The illustrations went well with the story. Ted and Nancy are loving life in Grimwood and when they discover an unknown land beside Grimwood that appears to offer the most amazing food, entertainment and more, it is appearing even better than ever as they can go between the two and get the best of both worlds but when they find a very sophisticated local coming to claim Grimwood as their own land it is down to the two to work alongside the other Grimwood inhabitants to save their land. Laugh your head off with this fully-illustrated new series from award-winning Nadia Shireen. Perfect for readers age 7 to 107, fans of Dog Man, Roald Dahl, Mr Gum and David Walliams, and anyone who loves to laugh.

Nadia now writes and draws full time, and dedicates her spare moments to tweeting about pop music and championing diversity and tolerance, values that are powerfully depicted in all her books. In 2017, she collaborated with Book Trust to promote their Time To Read campaign, sending 700,000 copies of The Bumblebear to school children all across the UK. Nadia joined forces with Book Trust once more, as their official Writer and Illustrator In Residence for 2018. A carnival of crazed confused comical critters that is more real than real life. Lots of things make me laugh but Grimwood makes me laugh out loudest.' This was followed by a MA at the prestigious Anglia Ruskin University. Drawing and writing for a living is very much Nadia’s dream come true and we expect great things from this promising new author and illustrator.Ted is one of the inhabitant of Grimwood. He’s an orphan fox. He and his sister were abandoned by their parents in a den in a park in Big City. Ted, while happy living in Grimwood, still sends letters to their old den, wanting to find his parents. The further illustrated adventures of Ted and Nancy, the fox siblings doing their best to settle into their new woodland home, do not disappoint. We meet lots of brand new (and totally bonkers) characters, including a squirrel called Ginger Fiasco, and a stoat called Susan Kidneys, and many of our favourites (hello, Sharon the party crow) make a welcome return. Honestly, this book is so funny it should come with a health warning. ~ Rob Biddulph, Guest Editor September 2022
