About this deal

Goku's older brother, Raditz unveil the truth about Goku's incredible strength and leads the Dragonball franchise into a cosmic scale as the strongest fighters on Earth must prepare for the inevitable arrival of 2 more Saiyans. Watch the struggle as the champions of Earth overcome their differences so they can overcome Raditz's overwhelming might. This is the beginning of Dragonball Z in full color. :)

Japanese manga is one of the best types of comic for you to read. Manga has amazing art style and exciting storytelling. Nowadays, with the help of webtoon – a kind of webcomic that allows you to read comics by scrolling easily, manga is adjusted in the webtoon form and free online manga brings even better experience to readers.Viz seem to release each arc over the period of a little under a year, then take nearly a year's break. (Saiyan: February-June 2014, Freeza: May 2016-January 2017, Cell: 2018-???) For ages, I was afraid to re-read the content of this volume. I absolutely loved Dragon Ball Z from about 2003 to maybe 2007. It was in 2006 that I began to read the manga, starting from the beginning of the Dragon Ball series, with kid Goku, as the series is meant to be, regardless of VIZ's distinction between both halves of the series. Unfortunately, some time in high school, I somewhat randomly came up with this silly idea that I disliked (no, "hated") the Z chapters, for shitting so hard on the comedic adventure roots, in favor of aliens and power-level bullshit and directionless story arcs. Dragon Ball in Space • Battlefield Namek • The Ginyu Force • Goku vs. Ginyu • The Wrath of Freeza • Goku vs. Freeza • The Super Saiyan A review copy was provided by the publisher, VIZ Media, and Erik Jansen from MediaLab PR. Thank you so, so much! I mean, just because Viz translated it, doesn't mean everyone's accepted their translation of it, especially since they seemed to have had a "close enough" attitude towards the translations (if the amount of corrections Herms had to make are any indication). For instance, even as recently as the 3-in-1 releases, they still call Vegetto "Vegerot," which sounds awful regardless of how much more sense it makes to the US naming conventions.

For instance, even as recently as the 3-in-1 releases, they still call Vegetto "Vegerot," which sounds awful regardless of how much more sense it makes to the US naming conventions. Son Goku is the greatest hero on Earth. Five years after defeating the demon king Piccolo, he’s grown up and has a family. But what is the real reason for Goku’s incredible strength? A visitor from outer space arrives bearing terrible news—Goku is an alien, and the visitor, Raditz, is Goku’s brother! When Raditz turns out to be a ruthless killer, Goku must fight his incredibly strong brother to save his family and the entire human race. A surprising alliance may be Earth’s last Goku will team up with his old enemy Piccolo to save the world! And even if that doesn't sway you, Dragon Ball's Viz manga has never really been something that goes around the piracy scene anyway; I guarantee you what you'd be reading on Manga Geek or whatever else would be a shitty scanlation from the '90s using comic sans typeface, full of mistranslations and other errors, and artificially filled with swears for a TOTALLY RADICAL EDGY FLAVOUR or something else like that. And probably a bunch of it would be flipped around for western comics-style L-to-R reading. That said, yeah, at the current point, reading for free is an incredibly stupid idea because Viz is basically asking for the second lowest price anyone could reasonably ask for a paid service and the replacement scans aren't done yet (or have been outright cancelled, idk).Jump Super Stars • Heroes: Victory Mission • Heroes: Charisma Mission • Heroes: Ultimate Charisma Mission • Discross Jinryoku God Max!! • Xenoverse 2 • Fusions • FighterZ And, I'm gonna be honest, "replac[ing] those old 90s scans with cleaner, more accurate ones" kinda just makes me a little angry. People devoting resources to translating a manga Viz has had official releases of for roughly 20 years so people who choose to pirate the manga instead of buying it can have a slightly better reading experience, instead of scanlating stuff like Victory Mission which has no full translation? I was thrown into the world with little explanation, but everything was explained well-enough along the way. I got at least some understanding of their powers and how they worked. There was a bit more violence than I expected, and I didn’t grow too attached to the characters, but it was interesting. The fight scenes were pretty easy to follow. The art wasn't too bad, either. So, using these assumptions to estimate the release times, and not counting overhangs of a month or two in/out of the given years(Freeza's last volume was the 3rd of January 2017, but in my estimation, I would write Freeza's release as just being 2016)...

Return To The Tournament • The Eyes of Tenshinhan • The Demon King Piccolo • Piccolo Conquers The World • Heaven And Earth • The Titanic Tournament • Goku vs. Piccolo You think Vegerot sounds awful, many people think Kuririn sounds awful, personally I think "Bulla", the American Evil Dragon names, a bunch of the Super name decisions ("Beerus", spelling Geran as "Jiren", etc.), the "Buu" and "Frieza" spellings, a huge chunk of the romanised-rather-than-translated-or-adapted subtitle terms ("Ryugadani Valley" from episode 2, various instances of "Tenkaichi"/"Tenkaichi Budoukai" in the pre-first tournament training, "Kami"/"Kami-sama", etc. etc.), and various other well-established, well-accepted name decisions sound stupid. Cell would be 2018-2019, Boo would be 2021-2022, Boyhood would be 2024-2025, and Piccolo would be 2027-2028. I have never read or seen any of the Dragon Ball series, including any of it’s spin-offs or other versions. The most I’ve ever seen of this series is the image of a few of the characters. So my understanding of this series was minuscule when I received this book, and I was a little deterred when I thought this was the first, only to find out it was a later arc of the series. So, if this turns out true, we'll be waiting 11 years for the rest of the Full Colour manga. As much as Viz's handling of Full Colour is awful, I doubt they'd be that bad with it, although I wouldn't totally discount the possibility. Warriors from Universe 6! • The Winning Universe is Decided! • Zero Mortal Project! • Last Chance For Hope • The Decisive Battle! Farewell, Trunks! • The Super Warriors Gather! • Sign of Son Goku's Awakening • Battle's End and Aftermath It would be much like if I said all of Funimation's work is unwatchable garbage simply for the reason that Funimation's in-house cast is not the cast I grew up on. (Then again, one could argue there's some truth to this; I don't like Funimation's cast, and maybe that is a nostalgia-based bias. But that's a whole other discussion that I'm not in the mood to get into right now) If Viz are merciful, and decide to release each arc over the course of a year, this will be better, with the release schedule being more like Cell in 2018, Boo in 2020, Boyhood in 2022, and Piccolo in 2024.

The Ginyu fight lasted a lot shorter than I remembered it being. This includes the few chapters with Ginyu in Goku's body. Maybe Toei dragged it out for their shitty anime adaptation? I also could have sworn Bulma was present when the frog was thrown in the way of Ginyu's body-change beam, but maybe I'm thinking of the frog reappearing in a later chapter or something. Having not read the original Dragonball Z in manga form I am not 100% sure how much quality was retained in colorizing the series but from what I can tell the book looks amazing even retaining the original Japanese sound effects where they did not want to chance ruining part of a scene. If you enjoyed the anime I bet you will enjoy this book too.sintzu wrote:I could be wrong but I think someone from Viz said they were going to release 3 volumes per year so if that's true then Cell will take up 2018-2019 while Buu 2020-2021. TheGreatness25 wrote:Might be me, but I feel like Viz's response comes off a bit condescending. "We haven't canceled anything. K thanks" is the tone I get from it. Pretty uncool considering that it took them three years to release five volumes. I mean, you can't blame fans for questioning if it's been canceled considering there hasn't been a new release in nearly a year. Yeah, the other person shouldn't have jumped the gun, but come on, Viz. Every Dragon Ball translation has its own particular naming conventions, and each one has its merits. Deciding a translation is bad just because you personally find these names don't roll of the tongue as well as the names that you're used to from the version you grew up with strikes me as a particularly immature way of criticising.
