About this deal

Some dampening is good for recording, or even using mics sometimes in live situations, or just depending on the type of room especially if you have larger drums ( I have 16 and 18 inch floor toms which I only ever dampen those 2 drums when I do). Also, here’s another thing: when using Moongel pads on your cymbals, the further your place them away from the center, the more effective they’ll be at reducing the sustain.

Moongel will kill resonance on any drum that you put it on and allows you to get rid of nasty top-end frequencies that can destroy a recording mix or muddy up a live sound. Andertons Music Company is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority, firm registration number 716155. One little square of the this stuff will dampen the drum enough without killing the playability of the drum like rings. Moongels are extremely useful both live and for studio recording, to ensure microphones are picking up the exact tone you want, without excess ringing.Worth noting that there is a difference between gel as a damper, and a napkin/kleenex pad held on with gaff tape.

Where Do You Apply Moongel (And How to Do It) | Music Gear Heads

A unique design that works on drums and cymbals, Moongel is something every drummer should have in his stick bag. The possibilities are endless, by simply moving the damper pad around the surface, you can eliminate any unwanted resonance, and obtain the exact sound the situation demands. In other words: we’ve prepared a little step-by-step guide on how to make your Moongel pads sticky again.

You can then choose which finance term you'd like to apply for, and change your deposit if you wish. A little bit of The Hand Drum Gel does what I need in the studio nicely, and looks a little more professional! It's great for when I use my 18" tom as a bass) It's great because you can just take them off, move them around, etc. Gaff tape is a commitment; once it is applied, getting it off or changing locations has issues and certain not in mid performance.

Window gels come in a myriad of shapes and colours too, you can even get seasonal with the designs, way more fun than plain old squares! I was moving my set one day and just so happens I put my Moongels in my "toolbox" that day which ended up going in the back of my truck. In the article you’re about to read, we’ll, among other things, tell you just where you apply Moongel and exactly how will you do it! When only the most effective means of controlling a percussion instrument's sound will do, percussionists turn to the Moon Gel Damper Pad. Now that you know where can you apply Moongel pads, let’s see how can one wash them (if they’re washable in the first place). To find the ideal place for your Moongel pads, you’ll want to run your finger along the edge of your drum right until you find the point at which the overtones start to diminish. I used gaff tape for a long long long long long time because why spend money on moon gels that just lose their adhesion and melt in your Tom Tom case. For instance, if they want a less dampened sound, they’ll stick the Moongel closer to the drumhead’s edge.
