About this deal

A great way to practice numbers while also teaching ‘How many?’ and plural nouns is to play a fun numbers guessing game. Here is one of Games4esl’s ‘Telepathy Games’ about animals and numbers.

If you are working within an AAC user (especially for an emerging user/someone who is learning their system), try to match the drawn tile to the corresponding button in their device. AAC users can also target concepts like sentence expansion and describing. Just like a teacher would do, I go over the directions and rules, then model how to play the game, before allowing the girls to play independently. In the Zingo game review video, you will see my daughter and her friend ramble off the directions and rules.Join us and experience the coolest community where gather people from differents areas and countries. Zingo is an award-winning game that develops children’s counting, addition, and number recognition skills. It is a fast-paced and exciting bingo/matching game. One set can be played by up to 6 players. To play, each student will have a different ‘zingo card’. Then students will take turns in sliding the ‘zinger’ to reveal a number card. The student must then try to match that number card to a number picture on his/her zingo card. The first student to fill up his/her zingo card is the winner. All the materials that come with the Zingo game are durable and can be re-used. So, by having a few sets of this game in your classroom you will have a fun and exciting numbers game to use in your class for years to come. 4: Number Guessing Games Zingo does not have a scoring system. Here, your objective is to cover all the images on your card. When you can spot a tile with an image the same as one of your cards, you can claim that tile. Use it to cover the matching picture. You are now one step closer to victory. This game is perfect as a base for using carrier phrases or generating [descriptive] sentences! For example, before a player places a tile on their board, they are required to use a designated carrier phrase “I see a ___.” Or they have to generate a sentence using the word from the tile that they selected. If the games I select can be used as an independent game center, or fun activity for kids, I want to assure the kids are able to understand and follow directions on their own. You might also like to play Goat Lord. It is a unique board game that will require you to outsmart your opponent. Be the first one to collect 1000 goat points by developing the largest herd. For some of my younger kiddos, if I am working on a fluency shaping task within single words, I may have them use one of their strategies when producing each label (e.g., easy starts, stretchy speech, etc.). Articulation I have played this way, but usually will modify the game depending on the skill I might be targeting or the individual(s) I am playing against/watching play. For example, depending on time constraints, I may only require the 3-in-a-row before yelling “ Zingo!” Ways we use Zingo in therapy: to target… Following directions https://youtube.com/watch?v=hsUSbefouCc Video can’t be loaded because JavaScript is disabled: Zingo! Sight Words from ThinkFun (https://youtube.com/watch?v=hsUSbefouCc) Frequently Asked Questions About Zingo Can we play Zingo in teams? If you have played and enjoyed Zingo, no doubt that you will love Bingo as well, launched by the same publisher. In fact, your favorite Zingo is inspired by this game. There is no point in having teams for playing Zingo as there will be an individual winner. Is Zingo fun for adults? Classic Bingo – Ask students to draw a 3×3 grid of squares and then choose nine numbers between 1-20 (or whichever numbers you are teaching) and write them in the squares. Then, the teacher will call out a number, and if that number is on the students’ bingo sheet, then they should cross it out.

By allowing my daughter and her friends to give directions in the kids game videos, it gives myself and other teachers a transparent projection of how it will be played by kids when left on their own.As well as practicing numbers, this game is great to use as a warm-up activity. To begin, choose a number to count to. The number you choose will depend on your class size and how difficult you want the game to be. For this example, let’s choose the number 5. Then, tell the students that when the teacher says ‘Go!’, one student from the class must stand up and say the first number (one). Then, another student must stand up and say the next number (two). And so on until they get to five. Any student can stand up at any time they want. If two students stand up at the same time and say the same number, then they lose. Setting up Zingo is a simple process. First, keep the rules book handy, and scatter all the tiles on a plane surface. Next, ask students to put all their cards face down in the middle of the group and mix them up. Once the cards are mixed, ask students to take 10 random cards and tell them not to show the cards to the other students. Now the liar game can begin. Zingo! We'll make this short and sweet. One game but with tons of ways to use it to target speech and language goals. Not to mention… kids love it. So honestly, most of the time they don’t really think they are “doing work” (score!). Zingo! Wait, like Bingo?

Though this is not something I have taken on, I know therapists who have targeted certain phonemes by pasting their own pictures on the boards and Zingo tiles. This may take a bit of work but can certainly be a good investment of your time if you have individuals on your caseload working on the same target sounds! You can also have individuals say specific target word(s) at each turn even if they’re not directly related to the pictures on the board. AAC navigation In this game, students will be asked, ‘How many (puppies)?’ and then they will see two possible answers. They must choose ONE and write it down. To help them guess the answer they can use ‘Telepathy’ to read the teacher’s mind. A variety of directions can be targeted within this game (e.g., single, multi-step, etc.), such as “Place the tiles in, then slide the Zinger.” Sometimes, I like to incorporate conditional directions before taking a turn, such as, “If you get an animal tile, you can place it on your board. If you get an object tile, you skip your next turn.” Turn-taking Do you have a kid at home? Zingo is an ideal game for early readers that is not only fun but informative. The purpose of trying out new board games is to find fun games for kids that can be used in the classroom, during family game night, or in other learning environments. Bingo games are wonderfully simple to make and are very effective when teaching numbers. Here are two variations of bingo you can try in your English class: If you have a large class, then an alternative way to play this game is to divide the class into teams. Give each team 3 chances to get to five. If they succeed, then they get a point for their team. 3: Zingo Number Bingo This fun ESL card game can be used to review numbers. For this game, prepare a set of number cards for each student (for this example, we will use a set of 10 cards numbered 1-10). Give one set of cards to each student and put them into groups of 3/4. Yes, Zingo is an exciting game for adults as well. We recommend playing with the red side of the cards for adults. That way, Zingo will be more challenging and fun. Is there any strategy to fill up Zingo cards faster?
