Initially he is very homesick, as he is introduced to a very different life from the one he is used to, with spicy food that he doesn't enjoy, and a lack of TV or computer games. I would use this book with EYFS and KS1 children as the illustrations are so luscious and the story is told so wonderfully. You know immediately that Gregory has gone on holiday from the illustrations in the front of the book. and there are none of the televisions, video games and other high-tech gadgets that a cool city-boy takes for granted.I did revisit at a later stage, as I adored reading this book because it brings back memories of growing up in Jamaica. This resource can be used by learners to find out about, or revise the features of instructional writing.

I hope that my students are able to see that doing different things can be alot of fun and make us better people.Lennox spends his days outside, feeding the goats and the hens and wandering the spectacular countryside. This book, with its rich illustrations and relatable nature would be ideal as an immersion activity into a geography topic. In looking at the illustrations closely, it was recognised that the frames portrayed on pages 4 ,5 ,9 and 14 were not fully closed. Children to learn the structure and language of a prediction and to recap /shun/ sound found in ‘‘prediction’’. It is a straightforward story of a young boy who travels by himself to visit his grandparents and cousin on Tobago.As well as the Instructions software this resource contains 5 printable examples of instructions and a list of Instructional features with a mnemonic to help pupils remember them. As well as providing an insight into a different culture, the author explores relationships and a child's understanding of "the perfect family. This story shows how we might view things in a negative light without trying but once we do it is not as bad as we first thought. Gregory enjoyed drinking fresh coconut water with sweet bread on the picturesque beach with his family. A good short story to introduce kids in KS2 to cultural differences and the variations of the English language in this part of the world.

The beautifully written text offers the opportunity for children to discuss and reflect about alternative family solutions.
