About this deal

We have never set named difficulty levels for different combinations of elements from the expansions. That sounds like a fun idea! Wingspan Asia also includes new end-of-round goals, which add variety and replayability to the game. These goals can range from having the most birds of a certain type to having the most eggs in your bird population. The new goals ensure that no two games of Wingspan Asia will ever be the same, and players must adapt their strategies accordingly.

Wingspan Solo is undoubtedly the easiest solo I’ve ever run, without it becoming a golfing experience. You’re not simply vying for a personal best, you have the challenge of competing with an unpredictably scoring element that’s always gaining… it’s not a chase, exactly, but it is a game of striving to do your best and to take on an automated system that can, and will, score well. Life Like Doesn’t Cut It! The Wetlands restriction on this bird feels kind of awkward. This isn’t the best bird to play in the first column of your Wetlands to get your card drawing started, but that’s probably the best position for this bird to get the most out of its power. If this bird is your only Wetlands bird by round two and you laid two eggs with its power at the end of round one, you’ve got some extra eggs to discard for extra cards with future Draw Cards actions. On this note, we also played our first couple of games with the Oceania Expansion without the core set just to experience all of the new birds. That was a much more dull experience in comparison. Contrasting my starting experience with Wingspan Asia against my starting experience with the Oceania Expansion, I could really tell that the bird powers in Asia were designed with a standalone experience in mind, and the bird powers in Oceania were not. Although we both felt Wingspan Asia as a set has some trouble generating food for us. I’ve seen this sentiment expressed by others in the community as well. Thanks, Jamey. If she ever happens to do an interview on font selection, or if she attends one of your Wednesday shows, I’d enjoy learning from her.I just heard about the form to submit new birds for future ideas/expansions on Jamey’s webcast yesterday and rushed to submit my all-time favorite bird! Such a fantastic idea!

I don’t know the name of the card you’re mentioning here, but if you look it up in the Appendix, it should say the same thing I’m saying here. If you have Rodentologist, Little Egret becomes a very solid play in the early game. Hopefully, it helps you more than it helps your opponents. For his birthday we adopted a Kakapo from the New Zealand Department of Conservation and so our son and Wingspan will have motivated us to help with the conservation of this special bird. We welcome parodies of our products in other games—specifically, parodies that are components in those games. For example, a few years ago before KTBG launched Creature Comforts, they reached out to us to ask if they could include an illustration of Wingspan on one of the “board game” comfort cards in their game. I’m now the proud owner of Creature Comforts, and I smile whenever I draw that card.

Question 1: Anna’s hummingbird…there are two of us. So two foods in the feeder. I choose one and he doesn’t want what is left. Can he roll the food to get something else or does he have to take what is there? Teal powers confirmed for Wingspan Asia Expansion! This bird is all about egg banking. Over the course of a game, the maximum number of eggs Bearded Reedling can lay is eight. Make sure you have a way to spend a couple of those eggs so you can reap the full benefit of this power. Pros – Great artwork, new birds, new powers, new bonus cards, able to play w/ 6-7 players now, and the new duet 1v1 mechanic. I’m almost exclusively a 1v1 player, so definitely excited to try out the duet mode. Seems like it will make playing birds more fun. I could go on and on about the great things to look forward to, but since most of the comments online already highlight these things, I digress to the “negative nancy” cons that I haven’t seen as much. Asia is both an expansion for the base game AND a standalone 2-player game. If you only have Asia, you are limited to 2 players. If you have Asia plus the original, you can play with 2-7 players instead of the 2-5 that the original allows.

First, love this game. So much fun. One thing I did was I made a slot in the card holder lip with a dremel. Now they don’t slide off the lid when you bump it. When you use the “play another bird in this habitat, and pay it’s normal cost,” does that cost include the egg cost at the top of the player mat?

I have two questions. First, regarding cards such as the American Bittern or Common Loon, which say “Player(s) with the fewest [wetland] birds draw 1 [bird card].” Should the players be comparing the number of birds played in their wetland versus birds played in their other habitats, or should the players be comparing the number of birds played in their wetland versus the number of birds played in other players’ wetlands.

I love Wingspan and am more of a birder than boarder. In my early and relatively active 70″s, I believe Wingspan helps keep my brain exercised as I’m playing–both creating and interacting with the lay of the land (or habitats) generally. You are bird enthusiasts—researchers, bird watchers, ornithologists, and collectors—seeking to discover and attract the best birds to your network of wildlife preserves. Each bird extends a chain of powerful combinations in one of your habitats (actions). These habitats focus on several key aspects of growth: Wingspan is a game really enjoy playing with my wife and she really enjoys it too. Maybe because she always wins :-). Same thing applies to Viticulture and Tuscany! A while ago now, Lacoste swapped its distinctive crocodile logo for one of ten threatened animal species on a series of limited edition polo shirts to raise money and awareness. Again, these are all personal opinions and I would love to debate. A facebook comment on the online group just didn’t seem like the right place to post this novel. All in all, I’m much more excited about the game than it sounds. New birds, powers, and bonus cards will be enough for me. I just hadn’t seen some of my cons/concerns posted anywhere and wondered if anyone else felt the same. I’m a bird enthusiast, and I love to play wingspan with my family. I have two questions. One is a design question and the other concerns actual play.
