However, the differences in actuation distance is not really noticeable when typing between these vs the Cherry MX Reds. With MX Reds, the static friction seems more apparent at first. The Gaterons seem lighter, despite having the same spring force, because of the smoother feel. Gateron Optical Red I’m not saying Speed switches are bad, I just didn’t feel the benefits that Cherry said would be better for gaming. In addition, we found typing with a Speed Silver to feel more uncomfortable as the short distance led to more bottoming out.The keyboard feels solid and is well built.
