About this deal

The sneaker was a fully customized version of the OG in honor of Stussy's Silver Anniversary. We saw crocodile accents on the swoosh, toebox and heel, as well as the Stussy cities printed on the heel, too. The initial samples created featured various song lyrics instead of the New York, London, Tokyo, Los Angeles wording. However, these were never cleared for production. This release would be the first taste we received of any apparel featuring alongside the sneaker. Matching tees would release to compliment the shoe. Nike and Stussy produced the sneaker in extremely minimal numbers and would sell them exclusively at the London Stussy store. Way before sneaker collaborations were as attractive as they are today, the combination of both brands creatives pushed the boundaries of sneaker design. The OG collaboration between Nike and Stussy was the Air Huarache LE, releasing in 2000. Stussy's Michael Koppelman joined forces with Nike's legendary Fraser Cooke to create this iconic silhouette. The concept was to design two creative colorways of their favorite Nike running shoe. That shoe? The Air Huarache. After years of success with rejuvenating classic basketball silhouettes from the Nike archives, in 2013 Stussy decided to take it in a completely different direction. The brand decided to take a step into the fitness world, recreating the Nike ACG Trainerendor Low—this time turning the Nike ACG shoe into one created with help from the Nike sister skateboarding brand, Nike SB. With this sneaker being utterly different from any previous collab released, Stussy looked to bring the whole Stussy tribe on board with the tagline, “Welcome to the tribe's training program.” The sneaker referenced cross-training and crossing over cultures, something Nike and Stussy had done for 13 years at this stage. If nothing else, this shoe is vaguely reminiscent of Nike’s smash hit Roshe Run model (which, after a short heyday, has since been memed into oblivion), crossed with Nike ACG cross-functionality.

The 2006 release saw Stussy revisit the legendary Nike Dunk High and also create custom versions of the Nike Free Trail 5.0 and Nike Trainer Dunk Low. The three sneakers silhouettes made up the World Tour collection—which also included artist remakes of the classic Stussy World Tour T-shirt. For the 25th Anniversary of Stussy, we saw the two collaborate on one of Nike's rarest sneakers, the Nike Court Force. While it’s unlikely that many people care (or are even aware of) the Court Force silhouette, the model began as a basketball shoe that never really took off—eclipsed by other sneakers in the Nike basketball lineup. Nike and Stussy have been at the top of their respective games for many years now. The Stussy brand shot to fame in the late 80s thanks to founder Shawn Stussy's creative flair. Hailing from California, the brand initially sold surfboards with Stussy scribbled on the board in a marker pen. This logo would later find its way onto apparel and was sold from Shawn Stussy's car to surfers. Although originally for surfers, the brand was synonymously cool amongst skateboarders and hip-hop aficionados alike.

Two unbelievable colorways of the shoe would release, combining a mix of earth tones and white underlays. The Tinker Hatfield creation was regarded as one of the more forward-thinking designs when it was released in 1991. Stussy reignited that interest surrounding the silhouette with this collab.
