About this deal

Gemma is a van Dalen, latest heir to the van Dalen publishing company. Gemma was determined to make a name for herself outside of the family business and despite her father’s manipulations she managed to break out on her own, obviously impressing her grandfather who named her as his heir. Written with a surfeit of quippy wit and graced with a delightfully quirky constellation of supporting characters, Lambda Literary Award winner Bellefleur’s fun, fresh take on the marriage of convenience trope delivers all the romantically swoon-worthy moments and steamy chemistry romance readers crave.”— Booklist Claire and Ash welcomed her with open hands into their family, acting more genuine, caring than her own reversed parents who has never gotten through from their loss of child.

A nightmare?” Gemma quirked a brow. She’d been called worse, and by her family, no less. “Some might take offense to that.” There’re red herrings all throughout the story, making you doubt everyone in the Keaton family. I for sure did although I suspected one of them quite strongly from halfway through. I got it right but not their motivations. Tansy's greatest love is her family's bookstore. But when it comes to actual romance, she can't get past the first chapter.

Books Multibuys

Why did I wait so long to try a Bellefleur novel?! I won’t make that mistake again. I will be first in line for all upcoming sapphic works especially if she maintains this standard of storytelling. As for the plot, there was literally no plot whatsoever. Tansy meets Gemma, they decide to fake-wed, their fake wedding gets ruined by Lucy because, of course, such a unique storyline it creates—past lover ruining the wedding because she can't see Gemma with anyone else, and the end. Nothing happens in between that is interesting enough to write nice things about. Everything, and I mean everything, is entirely unrealistic and nonsensical. On top of that, all the side characters were childish—too childish. Even the jokes they made were so forced. It was really cringe. And also, they marry in the end. The main characters. They knew each other for less than a month and married each other. How realistic indeed.

Tansy's greatest love is her family's bookstore. But when it comes to actual romance, she can't get past the first chapter. Tired of questions about her love life, she invents a fake girlfriend, inspired by the stunning cover model on a bestselling book. But when the real-life Gemma crosses Tansy's path, her white lie nearly implodes.

Bellefleur continues to spin delightfully different queer romances, and THE FIANCÉE FARCE is the best of the bunch so far." All the twists and turns made that there never was a dull moment. The plot moved at a nice pace and the narrator of the audiobook did a fantastic job with the characters.
