About this deal

John Miano". Center for Immigration Studies. Archived from the original on February 27, 2016 . Retrieved February 27, 2016. There is a lot of information and opinions within this book. No matter your political orientation, the author has succeeded in at least making you think. His arguments seemed well reasoned and invite to the reader, further investigation. Excellent book about the breakdown of the supply chain, especially in the face of macroeconomic, geopolitical, energy, financial and political crisis. But I am amazed at the display of American moral superiority and the constant China bashing in the book. He accused China of genocide without evidence when the hands of US and its allies were full of blood.

The book confronts the perception of a STEM professional shortage, exposes the flawed economics supporting the perception, and cites findings that offshore outsourcing firms are the predominant users of high-skill temporary employment-visas. [2] [3] The book's publication follows media reporting that Pfizer, [4] Southern California Edison, [5] and Walt Disney World to name a few, have each forced hundreds of employees to train their foreign replacements or risk their severance, unemployment eligibility and professional references. [6] Additional studies cited conclude that a high percentage of qualified U.S. STEM professionals are unable to find employment in their field. [4] [7] Overview [ edit ] Michael Hiltzik (February 20, 2015). "A loophole in immigration law is costing thousands of American jobs". The Los Angeles Times . Retrieved November 18, 2015. They told us they could replace one of us with three, four, or five Indian personnel and still save money," one laid-off Edison worker told me, recounting a group meeting with supervisors last year. "They said, 'We can get four Indian guys for cheaper than the price of you.' You could hear a pin drop in the room. The author argues persuasively…[and] offers an eminently sensible (though costly and surely difficult) solution…An alarming but not alarmist book that deserves serious attention from economists and policymakers.” In an interview and call-in segment on the Washington Journal ( C-SPAN), Malkin and Miano noted bipartisan consensus on the topic among the callers, regardless of Malkin's known conservative leanings. [8] Sold Out: How High-Tech Billionaires & Bipartisan Beltway Crapweasels Are Screwing America's Best & Brightest Workers is a 2015 book authored by Michelle Malkin and John Miano, a displaced high-tech professional, author and attorney who specializes in business immigration law at the policy level. [1]

Miano is a software engineer and author of numerous programming books, he is a founder of the Programmers Guild and has been a Fellow at the Center for Immigration Studies since 2008. He earned his J.D. from Seton Hall University and has testified before Congress on three occasions. [11] [12] Reception [ edit ] In truth, the greatest challenge to investors is not asset allocation, it’s the demise of sound money. A sound money system is not imposed, it is earned through the trust of system members. Digital money may be a new preceptual mode, but that does not change human nature. Trust is a nice blend of right hemisphere emotion and left hemisphere calculation. It exists (or not) in villages and central bank board rooms." The worst thing about this invaluable collection of thoughts is that there are truths, but they are buried under a mountain of assumptions, incorrect interpretations, irrelevant numbers, and sometimes even "alternative facts". This men's mind is focused only on the economy, and there is NOTHING more important. Pandemics? Bad for the economy. Wars? Idiots, it's terrible for the economy!! Espionage? It's bad for the economy!! Women not having children? It's very, very bad, but it's worse for the future economy. Climate change? Joking, this one doesn't matter so much, but people who are climate 'alarmists' are bad for the economy!! Suppose you are looking for a book that could be summarized as a boomer's unending complaint about everything (literally everything, from vaccines to women's emancipation). In that case, this book will be right up your alley. I give one star because the book is not completely useless, as I have learnt something about inflation and the breakdown of the supply chain.

The New York Times did not do a book review on this Malkin book, and they ignored her use of the term crapweasel in the plural on the cover. In 2009 they praised her first hardcover book. The answer was simple: Many of the visas are given out through a lottery, and a small number of giant global outsourcing companies had flooded the system with applications, significantly increasing their chances of success. Many of their jobs were transferred to immigrants on temporary visas for highly skilled technical workers, who were brought in by an outsourcing firm based in India. It’s all fine and good to know your sales numbers, but there’s not much point unless you plan to do something with the information. Marketing
