About this deal

Alastair Maxwell – Mortis Praetorians: The standard cookie cutter Kata shell, but ran in MP with no Morghasts, instead bringing 15 total Deathriders and the Soulstealer Carrion for movement shenanigans and objective control support For the tentacles some of them have, I first put a small ring of the flesh contrast paint around the base of them. I then grabbed Vulpus Pink and blended with the flesh contrast to create a gradient between the zombie itself and whatever demonic thing controls that tentacle. Vulpus Pink is one of my favorite contrast colors and I try to find any use for it I can. You might want to do another thin coat of Vulpus on the upper half of each tentacle to make the color more intense.

Steve: The Mortarch of Night can cast multiple spells, and a combination of the Heroic Recovery ability with The Hunger shared by all Vampires lets him heal up to 2D3 Wounds a turn, so he can stay alive and keep disrupting the enemy. If the enemy gets too close, he can disappear into the shadows using the Mortarch of Night ability to protect himself, then make the most of the Monster keyword by using Roar to stop enemies using command abilities in the following combat phase. There are three big elements here to consider: The skin/flesh, the tentacle bits, and the boils/pustules. For the most part, I tended to uniformly paint the pustules with a yellow shade – typically Averland Sunset with a dot of Flash Gitz Yellow as a highlight, before coating them in Nurgle’s Rot to give them a glossy, pussy look. If you want something less snot green, then ‘Ardcoat will work very well for this. Days Later is also a good movie to watch while we’re at it. The second half doesn’t hold up nearly as well but the first half of the movie is great, particularly with the shots of a deserted, desolate London .For Step 3 I thinned down some washes with Vallejo Glaze Medium. I thinned them a lot, enough that water would make the paint. Honestly, any medium will work just fine for this, so if you have contrast medium, lahmian medium, or even matte varnish, it should work just fine for this step, you’ll just get subtly different results with each one. I hit the purpleish areas and the skin around them with thinned Carroburg Crimson, and the rest with thinned Coelia Greenshade to give the model a bluish, dead look. The Gravetide to be cast by Be’lakor is a cute touch for how little it’s cost is – high impact for cheap is what I love to see in list construction, well done Nathan! The Best of the Rest Reviewing 120 lists is no easy feat, and based on all the information above, we will keep the victories as it stands. It’s a shame we didn’t catch it earlier and we will review how we can improve our processes including an extension from the current list submission window to allow additional time for TO & peer review.

Alex Bathgate – Pretenders Host: Herohammer style, with only 22 Blissbarbs, 5 of each of the elite Seeker units, with the rest of the points mostly spent on Glutos and a suite of powerful utility heroes. The rest of these steps are going to be identical for all of the skin colors, to help them be cohesive and look natural with each other. To shade the skin from this point, I used the wash Athonian Camoshade. This is an excellent and versatile color that’s great for making things look grimey in an organic way, and there’s no better organic grime than zombie juice. You’ll want to put a little around the big boils, but try to keep from slopping it onto the boils themselves. Artefact: Luneth’s Lamp (Can banish invocations and I’m +2 to all unbind/banish rolls. I hope you don’t like casting)Perhaps the biggest wrinkle that tips the scales here (lol), is that Be’lakor has crashed the party to shut down a unit for a turn/two turns. I figured as going second in round two is so important on Geomantic Pulse, Nathan would go first, shut down Kroak using Be’lakor and aim to give the turn away. Nathan can take the first turn, shuffle up the board to control the center and use Be’lakor to insulate against a double turn. Without his Slann able to do much in both hero phases (assuming he fails the 3+), John will struggle to do too much and gain momentum to push into the mid game and take over the board. The preview also revealed new Deathrattle Skeletons. Infantry units that are intended to make up the core of a Soulblight army, they can be customised with swords or spears. And joining them on the frontlines are the new Deadwalker Zombies. The squishiest infantry of the Soulblight force, they’re a horde unit, intended to fill up your army’s ranks and overpower enemy units through the sheer weight of their shambling, decaying flesh.

Get creative and paint detailed Zombies with horrific wounds using the Citadel Colour System. There’s a huge range of water-based paints designed for all your Warhammer painting needs in the colours of your choice. Prepare your new incredible new army using different paint methods and begin battles of Warhammer Age of Sigmar! If you’ve been reading Warhammer Community over the last month or so, you already know a thing or two about some of the heroes and villains of Warhammer Quest: Cursed City . You’ll also be aware of the sad story of Ulfenkarn’s history and a bit about the despotic ruler who brought it to its sorry state. Finally, to brighten the zombies up and bring all the colors together, I did a light drybrushing of Screaming Skull. You will want a large soft brush for this – a cheap round makeup brush will do well. Do it very lightly and avoid staying in one spot too long. Drybrish this over the whole model, though I would go a little lighter near the tips of the horns. I am not very skilled at drybrushing and I overbrushed in a few spots, but at the end of the day you can’t cry over zombies too much. The rest of the list is fairly standard Starborne fare – it’s all power projection from the inner castle, seeking to summon on additional skinks to keep the enemy at bay, with Gotrek threatening to obliterate entire combat zones and dominate the middle. Bob Van Emmerik – Legion of Night – 2nd Place Also by Max Brooks, The Zombie Survival Guide is an interesting look at what surviving a zombie apocalypse would actually entail, and talks about some of the more interesting dynamics you might not have considered, such as destroying the staircase in a house to prevent zombies from following you up. So far, we’ve covered the Stormcast Eternals, Orruk Warclans, and Slaves to Darkness, but today, it’s time to cover our first Death faction. In the days and weeks to come, we’ll be bringing you more of these overviews, designed to be informative for both newer and experienced players alike.
