About this deal

Pros: Great price for previously premium tech; 5-star safety rating, good ventilation; secure fit Cons: Can feel quite bulky I wish I could consider myself an aesthete or someone who cares deeply about the presentation of themselves and their belongings. The Heritage helmet has a retro vibe to it, like a 50s or 60s motorcycle helmet you'd expect to see paired with a shiny new Vespa scooter. It has a smooth, rounded shape, with a small lip for the visor and vents at the rear and on top. Unlike the large holes you get in many modern cycle helmets, the vents are barely noticeable at first glance.

We felt reassured by the tail at the base of the skull, and the helmet offers a secure fit with little-to-no sliding. If you're right on the cusp of a medium/large helmet, for instance, wear the helmet at its tightest setting.

Recent Writings

I decided to test and review their products due to Thousand’s unique approach towards helmets. At the moment, there are two series that you can choose from.

Electric scooters are not to be used on footpaths, cycle lanes or roads in the UK. It is the complete responsibility of the customer to ensure that you operate your e-scooter within all country and local laws. The customer assumes all liability and risk associated with the use of electric scooter products and holds Pure Electric Ltd and its owners free from any liability caused by their use.

The Chapter model is pretty similar in design to the Heritage series. The overall shape of the helmet is the same, but the straps, vents, and the visors are different. There are a lot of race-focused helmets out there, but the helmets from Thousand take a much different approach. Designed to be stylish yet functional, the original Thousand Heritage helmet stood out from a sea of aggressively styled helmets.

Thousand definitely has their own niche and they handle it nicely. There’s a strong story behind it, which is also what makes it work. For our review of the Heritage 2.0, my sister (who has a larger head than me) was surprised her measurements fell in between the medium and the large. Following the size chart advice to size down if in between sizes, she chose the medium and has been quite pleased. This might be a bit of a misnomer, but I think the Thousand Heritage is a helmet for everyone else, but not necessarily for everyone. Many cyclists will be better served by a more traditional-looking helmet, as they will be lighter and better ventilated. However, if you dislike how other helmets look or feel, the Heritage is about as polished as any other helmet I’ve used.

Let the ride begin

Thousand have revised its Heritage helmet to include an updated fit for folks with rounder heads, far better ventilation, and a new fit system. Better yet, they’ve done all of this without changing the helmet’s characteristically good looks. Thousand Heritage details Mission accomplished, the sport has become an important part of her life. Kristen’s favorite disciplines are mountain biking andbike commuting, although youcan also find her crankingout a century on her road bike and touring with her husband and son. If it has to do with two wheels, she enjoys doing it. Comfort & Fit – Mine was a little bit larger than I expected. Also, the fit of the Heritage model is slightly different compared to traditional helmets where you can make adjustments by turning the knob behind the head. I made the fit better by adjusting the straps on the helmet. Thousand says that compared to their original Heritage helmet, the Heritage 2.0 fits folks with a rounder head for a more inclusive fit overall. Helmet padding has also been updated to accentuate the helmet’s new ventilation channels.

RESULT – YES you can get the right fit on the Heritage, but it’s still different compared to traditional helmets. The Chapter is much better in this regard.Thousand’s ideology — minimalistic, functional style with important features should get more people to wear helmets. A non-in-molded helmet will typically be heavier, and that’s the case with the Heritage 2.0. At 455g, the helmet is on the heavier side, but it’s both CPSC certified for bikes and ASTM F1492-15 certified for skateboarding and roller skating.
