Aside from the parts that I found harmful, the writing was very trope heavy and relied on too many stereotypes for character development. The topics that the book explores definitely have a YA slant, but since this book is marketed as YA, that’s to be expected. Now Nate is trying to maintain a long-distance relationship with Bronwyn, who is struggling to balance her new life at Yale with her memories of Bayview. Jake heard him bragging about the plan and Simon was afraid he would be exposed, so he told Jake about Addy's infidelity with TJ. Madrona found the idea of a single season that tells a complete story while solving the show's biggest mystery very satisfying.

Meanwhile, Addy has an outburst where she asks Jake not to come home, drawing significant attention to the group. One of Us Is Lying focuses primarily on four high school students – Cooper, Addy, Bronwyn and Nate – who become prime suspects in the murder of one of their classmates. I haven't been so content and had screamy feels over a thriller since Dangerous Girls, which was 213324 decades ago. If Murder Club do not listen to Simon Says, a video from Halloween night, proving they were in the woods the night Jake disappeared, will be sent to the police.

According to producer Matt Groesch, the beaches on the country's east coast provided an excellent match to those in Southern California. In case you need a recap, season one of One Of Us Is Lying ended with the main gang - Addy (Annalisa Cochrane), Cooper (Chibuikem Uche), Bronwyn (Marianly Tejada), Nate (Cooper van Grootel) and Janae (Jessica McLeod) - receiving a text claiming to know who killed Jake (Barrett Carnahan) from "Simon Says. On About That, the anonymous user reveals Addy cheated on Jake, and it is revealed Bronwyn's younger sister Maeve took Simon's laptop. This is the recipe this book was made of and since I enjoyed solving the murder mystery I decided that I won’t go into detail all too much. But I liked it enough that I’ll most likely read the sequel, One of Us Is Next, when it comes out in January 2020. The encrypted file regarding Cooper is opened by the police, revealing that the steroid accusations are false and that Cooper is actually gay.

And then there was a big reveal, and while I was interested in how the feat was accomplished, the reveal itself was so anti climactic.

The show enjoyed a generally positive reception from critics and strong viewership, which has secured it a second season – although Deadline reports this follow-up will deviate from McManus' sequel novel (titled One of Us Is Next). It's heartbreaking and sad to learn about what they hide, but spoilers so read it and find out yourself, thanks.
