About this deal

They feel like people I know already, in a way that often takes several books to achieve in other series.

A Litter of Bones by J.D. Kirk | Waterstones

The technical storage or access is strictly necessary for the legitimate purpose of enabling the use of a specific service explicitly requested by the subscriber or user, or for the sole purpose of carrying out the transmission of a communication over an electronic communications network. The resolution is satisfying without being overly dramatic, with classic tartan-noir thematic scenes and a pay-off that’s enjoyable and also entertaining as it unfolds. So, if you're after something genre-busting or completely fresh and new then Kirk probably isn't for you but if you do have room for 'just one more' then pour yourself your favourite tipple, sit back and enjoy a very decent detective story. There is some SUPER gross stuff on Bones and this book doesn't even come close to that level) Murder generally produces a corpse.

Logan doesn’t suffer fools gladly and if somebody upsets them then Logan doesn’t hesitate to make his feelings known. When another child disappears a hundred miles north in the Highlands, Jack is sent to lead the investigation and bring the boy home. But they usually had a charm about them, a certain quality that made them and their decisions likeable, not frustrating. I like DCI Jack Logan of the Central Belt MIT, Glasgow, but he’s a hodgepodge of police clichés and needs more development. The ending was, in my not at all humble opinion was very contrived and hinged on an event that a psychologist, like myself, would regard as so improbable as to be.

DCI Logan is a main character I can spend a lot of time with (I like when fictional characters have a sense of humor, despite the difficult situation they are in), I prefer my detectives to be difficult, rough and loyal. Oh, an when he gets a lead that the original killer owned a house in the area he doesn't even go to check it out by himself. When Logan is given a case, you know that he will do the best that he can and that he is like a dog with a bone in the sense that he doesn’t give up very easily. As a result, the media start speculating the presence of monsters in the woods and this causes panic to spread among the people of the town. Instead, they serve to increase the sense of suspense and to keep the reader on the edge of their seat.

He is particularly famous for writing the DCI Logan series of novels featuring Glasgow based Detective Chief Inspector Jack Logan in the lead role. When the bloody remains of a missing gamekeeper’s dog are discovered on the moors, it soon becomes clear to DCI Harry Grimm and his team that this was no wild animal attack. See the spot where Connor Reid first went missing, take a peek at Fort William police station, and get an eyeful of some local wildlife (including my dog. Since then I have located all the Jack Logan books except for the last 3 but I will track them down. Now, Jack has to prove if there is a copy cat killer or if he arrested the wrong man all those years ago.
