About this deal

For more information on adapting your lawn to get the best performance from the VBRM16, see our video guide and FAQ. You primarily need to make sure that the mower battery is going to run for long enough to cover most, if not all of the lawn in one session. While these machines will return to their charging station when required, you don’t want them to spend more time charging than they do mowing. You may notice that there are some robotic mower models that are the same size and have the same battery, but are designed for larger lawns. How can this be? Well, the manufacture programs the mower to cut for different lengths of time throughout the day and will provide longer boundary wire and pegs for the larger models.

SPOT CUT FUNCTION: for a neat finish, use the additional spiral spot cut function on any uncut grass.

Husqvarna is the parent company of Flymo and is known for its robust outdoor tools. As well as robot lawn mowers, they make tractors, mowers, chainsaws and much more. For people who want a robot mower that is lightweight (6.6kg) and easy to store, the LawnMaster VBRM16 makes an excellent choice as it’s so compact. What’s more, it comes with a carry handle so moving it around is even easier.

One of the things that a lot of people ask me about robotic lawn mowers is whether they have enough power to complete the entire lawn in one go. Insert the USB flash drive into the USB port. You will hear four beeps and the indicator lights will flash green. The software is now updating. Grabbing it by the handle, I plonked it on my lawn, pressed two buttons, and the mower was off and mowing. The robot uses a camera to detect grass on the lawn ahead of it. If the grass stops and the mower detects a different surface, it will stop, turn around, and head off in a different direction. The LawnMaster VBRM16 is a robot mower that is simple in its design and operation but doesn’t scrimp on performance. If you’re looking for something that won’t break the bank and will be a cinch to setup and use, then this is a mower I would highly recommend. Main FeaturesThe LawnMaster VBRM16 cuts in a random pattern. When you turn it on, it’ll start mowing in a forwards direction and will then move around the lawn. When it reaches a boundary or an obstacle, the LawnMaster VBRM16 will turn to cut in another direction. Flymo – perhaps one of the most well known names in the lawn mower world, Flymo offers a small selection of robotic mowers as well as a range of other gardening tools.

Powerful, easy to use and built to last, LawnMaster lawnmowers and garden power tools provide a solution for every garden. Our great value lawn mower range includes cordless lawnmowers, electric lawn mowers, robotic lawn mowers and hover mowers. Whatever the shape or size of your garden, we have the best lawnmower for you. I tested the LawnMaster VBRM16 on my front lawn and was really pleased with the results and how well this machine worked. It was simple and easy to use, has a great run time and is overall a well made and impressive piece of garden equipment.

My front garden doesn’t have any slopes, but there are lawns all over the UK that do. If this sounds like your garden then you’ll be pleased to know that the LawnMaster VBRM16 can handle inclines up to 35%. This is comparable to the range of Flymo and WORX robotic mowers. Charge and Mow Time LawnMaster – if you are looking for a robotic mower that is simple to set up and budget friendly, then the LawnMaster L10 may be the mower for you. The VBRM16 OcuMow™ uses a camera combined with two ultrasonic sensors to navigate around your garden. The camera detects the difference between surface textures and colours, for example grass or paving, and the ultrasonic sensors detect obstacles higher than 6cm, such as plants, garden furniture, walls and fences meaning there is no need for a boundary wire. One last thing that’s worth noting is that the battery is sealed into the device, with no obvious way of getting in to remove or replace it.

READ NEXT: Our guide to the best robot lawnmowers to buy LawnMaster L10 review: What do you get for the money? The LawnMaster VBRM16 is certainly not the most advanced robot lawnmower you’ll come across. However, if you’re looking for a model that can start cutting your lawn on the day you get it, with no requirement to install wires or connect a base station, it’s a simple and effective machine. Instead, when you first get the robot, you only need to charge the removable battery using the separate charging unit. It comes partially charged and I found it was fully charged within 30 minutes. Remove it from the charger and slot it into the cavity on the rear of the mower, and it’s good to go. The battery should last around three hours and only takes an hour to charge from empty. You need to give the mower a run-in of at least 1m in a straight line before approaching any corners. When you get to a corner, the wire needs to be laid down in a smooth curve for the robot to steer around, as it can’t follow a tight bend.

As you can see from the information above, there are a lot of options when it comes to robot mowers with each manufacturer competing to bring you the best product. All of the brands I have mentioned above are excellent and I’d have very little problem recommending them. However, you must keep in mind that we all have differing needs so what I might find useful in a robot mower, you may not need. The great thing about the LawnMaster VBRM16 is that the manufacturer has carefully combined the blade width and run time to ensure the mower covers up to 100 square metres in one go. Supplied with 2x detachable MX 24V lithium-ion batteries and a fast charger. The batteries can be charged wherever is convenient with no need for an outdoor power source. These robotic mowers are powered by rechargeable batteries but what’s great about them is that you don’t even need to worry about remembering to put them on charge. They’re smart machines that will automatically return to their charging station when they need a power boost. Once you’ve set them up, it really is a case of just letting them get on with it. This inevitably means it will leave a strip of uncut grass around the edge of your lawn that you’ll have to trim manually but this is no different to other robot mowers. They all seem to have this limitation.
