About this deal

As I said earlier this book gets into the mystery too late but you still don't want to put it down, you want to keep reading even though it is not that exiting initially. Some kids will enjoy Alex Rider more but overall it is a good book with lovable characters. I liked this book and I hope you will too. Penguin Readers is an ELT graded reader series. Please note that the eBook edition does NOT include access to the audio edition and digital book. Written for learners of English as a foreign language, each title includes carefully adapted text, new illustrations and language learning exercises.

Silverfin by Charlie Higson: Summary and reviews - BookBrowse

Lord Hellebore arrives at Eton to fund and stage a three-part athletic tournament, which he intends his son, George, to win. The competition has three heats: swimming, running, and shooting. Lord Hellebore helps George cheat in various events, particularly the foot race, where he plans shortcuts for his son. James, noticing that George has an alternate route, follows him, using his speed to overtake him and win the race. George tries to trip James but fails. Ultimately, Andrew Carlton, another student is the winner of the tournament, which deeply disappoints Lord Hellebore. During a scene at a circus the announcer presents "The Mighty Donovan". "The Mighty O'Donovan" is Donovan "Red" Grant's father, referenced in From Russia with Love. (hehe jadi curhat) Charlie Higson is a well-known writer of screenplays and novels, including the phenomenally successful Young Bond series. He is also a performer and co-creator of 'The Fast Show' and Radio Four's award-winning 'Down the Line' series - recently made into a popular BBC2 sketch show, 'Bellamy's People'. Charlie is a big fan of horror films and is now hoping to give a great many children sleepless nights with his The Enemy series. Higson: "The smell and noise and confusion of a hallway full of schoolboys can be quite awful at twenty past seven in the morning."o APA citation: Higgson, H. & Walker, K. (2008). Silverfin: A James Bond adventure. New York, NY: Hyperion Books. One thing about this category, is that it's interesting to view the perspective of the illustrator, how they saw the image of the book in their mind, although I can't mark them down if the tree I imagined had brown leaves instead of dark green leaves, as I have not read the actual book. Bond travels to Scotland to visit his aunt and dying uncle. Along the way, he meets a boy named Jimmy who is searching for his missing cousin, and James offers his help. In Scotland, his uncle warns him—based on personal experience—never to become a spy. Ironically, James and his new friend, Jimmy, soon stumble upon Hellebore’s mysterious castle while searching for the missing cousin. They investigate and uncover some frightening clues about Hellebore's true self. The two boys also find that George has realized his father’s treachery and wants to put a stop to it. Together, they meet Hellebore face-to-face, discover that he is more of a monster than they imagined, and put up a vicious fight. SilverFin 's success spawned a mobile game published by PlayerOne on January 5, 2006 in conjunction with the release of the second novel in the Young Bond series, Blood Fever. The game features three locations, 15 levels, and a variety of enemies that the player must avoid. The U.S. edition of the book was edited to remove descriptions that were considered too racy for young readers. One such example includes a description of Wilder Lawless's legs during a tussle between herself and Bond.

SilverFin is the first novel in the Young Bond series that depicts Ian Fleming's superspy James Bond as a teenager in the 1930s. It was written by Charlie Higson and released in the United Kingdom on March 3, 2005 by Puffin Books in conjunction with a large marketing campaign; a Canadian release of the same edition occurred in late March. The United States edition, which was slightly edited for content, was released on April 27, 2005 by Miramax Books. Silverfin is a young adult spy novel by Charlie Higson based on Ian Fleming's famous character James Bond. The book, which follows James Bond as a teenager in the 1930s, inspired a series of graphic novel adaptations, video games, and a travel guide. Silverfin, the first book in the series, is followed by Blood Fever, Double or Die, Hurricane Gold, and By Royal Command. There are also two supplementary books: a travel guide, The Young Bond Rough Guide to London, and Danger Society: The Young Bond Dossier, essentially a guidebook to the world of Young Bond. THe story is very easy to follow, bully at school has a evil dad, with a slightly more evil mad scientist and a nefarious plot to rule the world. Bond arrives, gets the girl and saves the world but doesn't have a martini, shaken but not stirred. Anyway, James Bond ini gak punya orang tua lagi, keduanya meninggal waktu mendaki gunung. Jadi dia tinggal ama tantenya. James Bond mengetahui kalo pamannya ternyata seorang mata-mata dulunya. Jadi tau dong darah spy itu nurun dari mana? Ternyata bukan dari ayahnya. I wouldn't even say the plot is particularly Bond-like. The mystery that unfolds is pretty out there, belonging more in the Hellboy universe than the Bond pantheon. There are also no real twists or surprises, no late-game reveals. It just kind of... moves forward.

Titles include popular classics, exciting contemporary fiction, and thought-provoking non-fiction, introducing language learners to bestselling authors and compelling content. In the second section of the book, James travels to Scotland on spring break to visit his Aunt Charmian and Uncle Max, who is dying of cancer. During this visit, the cause of James's parents’ deaths is revealed, and James learns more about his uncle's history as a spy during World War I. James also meets a few friends, including an older boy, Red, and a love interest, Wilder Lawless. James and Red travel to the nearby Hellebore estate, which includes Loch Silverfin. At the estate, the two meet Mike Moran, a Pinkerton detective investigating Lord Hellebore at the request of his wife, who suspects Hellebore of having killed his own brother, Algar, because he was having an affair with Lady Hellebore. The boys find Detective Moran dead in Loch Silverfin, with his body mostly eaten by the carnivorous eels. That said Higson did write some excellent books and his last one actually featured james Bond 007 in a albeit short chapter. Silverfin is the first of 9 books in the Young Bond graphic novel series. Bond's parents are dead due to an accident during while exploring. His aunt and uncle (a former spy) have sent Bond to the super-elite boarding school Eton College (ages 13-18) which has long been known as a school for multiple royal families and future military and political leaders.

Higson was educated at Sevenoaks School and at the University of East Anglia (where his brother has taught since 1986 and is now a professor of film studies) where he met Paul Whitehouse, David Cummings and Terry Edwards. Higson, Cummings and Edwards formed the band The Higsons of which Higson was the lead singer from 1980 to 1986. They released two singles on the Specials' 2-Tone label. Higson then became a plasterer before he turned to writing for Harry Enfield with Paul Whitehouse and performing comedy. He came to public attention as one of the main writers and performers of the BBC Two sketch show The Fast Show (1994-2000). He worked with Whitehouse on the radio comedy Down the Line and is to work with him again on a television project, designed to be a spoof of celebrity travel programmes.[1:] My favorite quote from this book is the final quote as it teaches you a moral, the quote and moral is "Don't ever be a spy" The reason I admire this quote is because at around the middle of the novel, Bond's uncle was explaining how he was beaten and tortured by German Soldiers then said. "Don't ever be a spy". So once James Bond had experienced his bit of being a spy he agreed with his uncle and it wrapped up the novel nicely. After studying at the University of East Anglia, Charlie formed a band, The Higsons. He then became a decorator before turning to the world of television and going into partnership with his friend Paul Whitehouse. Their successes included 'Saturday Live', the 'Harry Enfield Television Programme', 'The Smell of Reeves and Mortimer', 'Shooting Stars', 'Randall and Hopkirk, Deceased', the film 'Suite 16', 'Swiss Toni' and 'The Fast Show'.

The ending is very exiting, James is trapped inside a cell in Lord Hellebore's castle but when he escapes he discovers he has to swim through a narrow tunnel with only a bit of breath in his lungs. At the end of this tunnel he discovers a dead end and he lies there waiting to die. Later on after he has escaped, you will have to read the book to find out how, George helps him burn down his fathers castle.
