About this deal

There are lots of different twists in this mystery, thriller, my mind had all different thoughts trying to sort out what was happening, and the ending was not what I expected at all, a short story that I did in one sitting, it is fast paced and has lots happening in, characters that add to the story. It takes a special kind of genius to create twisty, thrilling novels that can be read in a single satisfying sitting' Good Reading Magazine We invite our trusted community to engage directly with the nation-wide conversation about books by registering for Preview, our new crowd-sourced book review platform. Will he end up in the dangerous position of taking on the town again? He doesn't answer his phone. He doesn't message. His social media channels are inactive. Lou is out of her mind with worry, but she can't go to the police, because she has secrets of her own. Secrets that Samuel just can't find out about. Lou must find her son herself and bring him home. As the author does so well in his other books, he is able to turn the trajectory of the narrative on its head and introduces a tense and bloody stand-off. Despite the consequences to herself and Marko, Lou is prepared to do anything to protect Samuel. The novel concludes with Lou telling herself – ‘It all works out in the end’ [189].Mother's intuition or a deadly guilty conscience? A woman races against time to find her son in this tense and twisty thriller by the Top Ten bestselling author of The Wrong Woman J. P. Pomare has once again earned his place on my instant-read list. Home Before Night is twisty and brilliant - a highly addictive thriller!' CHRISTIAN WHITE A clever and twisty tale involving secrets from the past that have a habit of turning up when you least expect it. Mostly told by Lou, the story centres around the disappearance of her son, Samuel. Lots of suspense and a twist I didn’t see coming. J.P. has done it again! Judi, NSW, 4 Stars The light under my mother’s bedroom door – a light that promptly darkened upon my return from a late night out – never failed to intensely irritate me as a young man. Years later, now a parent home at night imagining the dangers awaiting my own children, I have begun to understand my mother’s behaviour.

As another wave of the virus hits, inhabitants of Melbourne are given until 8pm to get to their home. After that, curfew begins and they need to stay there for 4 weeks. Includes an exclusive extract of the next J. P. Pomare thriller, Seventeen Years Later, publishing in 2024. There are latter chapters from another perspective that just makes the book in my opinion. And I know there’ll be some chat about the ending but you won’t hear about it from me. As the third wave of the virus hits, all inhabitants of Melbourne are given until 8 pm to get to their homes. Wherever they are when the curfew begins, they must live for four weeks and stay within five kilometres of. When Lou's son, Samuel, doesn't arrive home by nightfall, she begins to panic. I was enthralled at the twist in every chapter, always expecting the past to be revealed, but the suspense kept me interested. I felt sorry for Samuel being so misunderstood in his relationship with his girlfriend and family. I thoroughly enjoyed the writing of J.P. Pomare and I WANT MORE. Brilliantly written. The Sydney Morning Herald

J.P. Pomare has given us another juicy small-town read . . . Expect plenty of twists and turns in this thriller' WOMAN'S DAY Mother's intuition or a deadly guilty conscience? A woman races against time to find her son in this tense and twisty thriller by the Top Ten bestselling author of The Wrong Woman. My weird foibles aside*…. one of the things I found eerie about this was that it was set in the throes of Covid. (Well, an increasing worse spread of Covid.) I know we are still in the midst of the pandemic – as someone who only got it for the first time a month ago – but it was a bit surreal. Like reading books in the height of Covid that didn’t reference it at all. Or masks. Or social distancing.
