I'm not the intended audience for the book, so I won't rate. Personally, it wasn't a book I enjoyed. Maybe because I work at an animal rescue, and the shelter in the book was portrayed as dog jail, and the boy in the story was threatened to have his dog taken away if it didn't behave perfectly. When rule-breaking Rafe has to train his mischievous mutt at obedience school, things are about to get really ruff in this Middle School book for kids and animal lovers everywhere! Now, I know what you're thinking - dino-roars don't exist anymore, right? WRONG. I spotted one in the flesh, well in the bone...And it smelt tail-waggingly tasty!

Strong messages about friendship, loyalty, hard work and practice to learn new things, and learning from your mistakes -- though young readers may learn more from Junior's mistakes than he does sometimes.
