About this deal

Finally, it’s worth pointing out that the low 4 mm offset will stress the Achilles and Calves/Soleus during uphill trail runs. Lastly, the new outsole no longer comes with blank markers for the drainage ports and spikes. The Peregrine 11’s outsole had raised circles with ‘plus’ and ‘dot’ symbols – those were blanks for attaching aftermarket spikes and drilling drainage holes. THE RIDE EXPERIENCE From a protection standpoint, there’s a decent amount here. This is hard, from the outsole wrapping around to the front. Then there’s this extra overlay. There are a couple of layers. There’s even a little bit extra on the sides when you might be catching or scuffing something. By reducing the amount of padding in the upper, the Peregrine 12 drops over a full ounce of weight from its predecessor without sacrificing comfort or durability.

Admittedly, most of our test runs took place on damp trails, but the dried mud did not get inside the shoe. Personal: A- ( The biggest negative for me was the high heel cup irritating and causing blisters. The traction, comfort, and stability of the shoe make up for this minor irritation) The outsole of the Peregrine 12 has well-spaced, chevron lugs sitting at 4.6mm deep. The spacing means it’s really good at shedding mud, and can work on softer ground too. iRunFar’s Trail Running Shoe Archive: 2009-2014 Releases What follows is a collection of iRunFar’s semi-annual trail shoe roundups for shoes released from 2009 through 2014. They’ve done that by just not having so much going on.Since the Terra Kiger 8 is a softer trail running than the Peregrine, it’s more comfortable for long-distance trail runs. and Post. Ultraspire Fitted Race Belt: The best way to carry your phone and goods on the run. No bounce and various sizes for waist Feel of the shoe: Nimble and lightweight. The GORE-TEX upper doesn’t change the fit - choose your usual size.

The Peregrine is the trail version of Saucony’s popular road running Kinvara, which features the same 4mm drop. Andrea: The Peregrine 12 is the best version of the Peregrine I have tried. I would be hard pressed to think of another trail shoe that performs better on loose terrain, particularly snow and mud, as compared to the Peregrine. I think that the overall performance of the shoe could be improved if Saucony could make the outsole even more flexible while maintaining the lug pattern, which is what provides such excellent grip. It does appear that Saucony made the forefoot slightly wider than previous versions and I would encourage them to maintain this feature, which allows for slight toe splay and improved forefoot stability. When used as a mixed surface trail running shoe that involves paved roads and flat gravel trails, the outsole will wear down sooner. If it’s just off-road use on soft trails, then you’ll be able to extract a higher mileage. Technology & key features: SPEEDROLL technology to allow you to roll over the trails, PWRRUN PB cushioning to give you a light and fast feel, and an ultra-grippy PWRTRAC outsole. A mid-cut upper for a more protective fit. Saucony also sells the ST (Soft Terrain) version of the Peregrine. It shares the same midsole and TPU insole with the standard Peregrine, but the upper and outsole offer added performance benefits on muddy trails.

GAITER COMPATIBILITY

So if you’re in the early stages of transitioning from a higher drop (8-10 mm) trail shoe, our advice is to take it slow and gentle the first few runs. IS THE SAUCONY PEREGRINE 12 DURABLE? Stability: B- (not a stability shoe, for runners who can tolerate 4mm drop and do not require traditional stability features)
