About this deal

There is quite a bit of redundancy throughout this book which eventually becomes tautological, especially when there are generic quotations and ideas mentioned. Staff writer covering wellness, relationships, and everything in between. Pete Davidson’s future ex-girlfriend, probably. Reluctant Capricorn. I definitely cried today. ✨

The audiobook of The Mountain Is You is consistently one of the best selling audiobooks on Audible and Apple Books. The audio verion was narrated by Stacey Glemboski, a former English teacher that is now a voiceover artist. Stacey Glemboski presents Wiest’s guidance with a heartfelt, spirited voice. The audiobook leaves you with an abundant motivation to transform your life. While the audiobook is not free, Brianna Wiest has various free audio programs on YouTube and her podcast. Here are a few of those no cost options:You are not too broken to find someone who actually wants you, and when you begin to recognize that you are worthy of being committed to, you’ll start choosing partners who do just that.” This is a book about self-sabotage. Why we do it, when we do it, and how to stop doing it—for good. Nu că m-aș pricepe eu prea bine la astfel de cărți, dar aș fi vrut mai multe exemple, că așa funcționez și asimilez eu.🤣

Wiest has written several books, including “The Mountain Is You”, “101 Essays That Will Change The Way You Think”, and “Salt Water”. Her writing has been featured in a variety of publications, including The Huffington Post, Forbes, and Thought Catalog. She is also the founder and editor-in-chief of Soul Anatomy, a digital magazine that focuses on personal development and mental health. By embracing the challenges of life as opportunities for growth and transformation, we can climb the mountain of self-discovery and reach new heights of fulfillment and happiness. While self-sabotage is a phenomenon I am deeply familiar with, it is a mechanism I never fully understood. I couldn’t figure out why I always got in my own way, tripped myself up, and ultimately never arrived at the places I wanted to be.I won't recommend this book to people who go through self-sabotage tendencies. I believe that good old therapy works best and that there exists other self-help books that are way more scientifically approved. I recommend The Happiness Trap by Dr. Harris to change your perspective on life instead of this one. Self-sabotage is what happens when we refuse to consciously meet our innermost needs, often because we do not believe we are capable of handling them.” I think this could be a great book if you’re a beginner to self development, but if you’ve been reading around this topic for some time already, you may not get what you need from this book specifically. Your new life is going to cost you your old one. It’s going to cost you your comfort zone and your sense of direction.”

Everything you lose becomes something you are profoundly grateful for. With time, you see that it was not the path. It was what was standing in your way.” Nope, that’s not how our brain works. Has the author ever hear about childhood trauma? Or any real person? The thing that feels “right” most of the time is what is familiar, and what is familiar is not always good for you. All new things come with discomfort which can feel wrong and very few of us can distinguish what is actually right for us, like being safe and healthy would feel boring and weird for many. Many people say that you have to love yourself first before you can love others, but really, if you learn to love others, you will learn to love yourself.” For centuries, the mountain has been used as a metaphor for the big challenges we face, especially ones that seem impossible to overcome. To scale our mountains, we actually have to do the deep internal work of excavating trauma, building resilience, and adjusting how we show up for the climb. Many people say that you have to love yourself first before you can love others, but really, if you learn to love others, you will learn to love yourself Brianna Wiest, The Mountain Is You Another popular quote from Brianna Wiest about what self-care truly entails.

Reading The Mountain Is You signals your readiness for change. That said, change without a little bit of help can be hard. So there is an official workbook via Thought Catalog Books that will help you realize many of the lessons in the book in your real life. The workbook offers prompts to guide introspection and navigation through your personal challenges. You can find it here. Brianna West steps inside your brain and truly just gets it. From dealing with loss, mental illness, self doubt and so much more, the resulting self sabotage and what you can do to become your true, most authentic self. Brianna Wiest’s masterpiece is the perfect roadmap for understanding why we self-sabotage, when we do it, and how to stop doing it—for good. Dr. Steven Eisenberg, Wellbeing & Connection Expert, Renowned Internist & Oncologist Brianna Wiest is a writer and author who is best known for her work in the field of personal growth, self-improvement, and mental health. She was born in 1991 and is based in Salt Lake City, Utah. Some nice reminders, but this felt like a surface level observation of many of the topics I’ve read about before. It was a very short read and most definitely could have been longer!Releasing the past and learning to act as our highest potential future selves can help us move forward with confidence and purpose. This book just didn't work for me. I almost gave up reading it. I think it is structured more like essays and it is missing some connection between chapters. The honest reason why people sabotage their own progress is because they do not want to progress to that specific goal. Human beings seek what they know best because it is what is the most comfortable and therefore safe. As Wiest writes, “Human beings are guided by comfort. They stay close to what feels familiar and reject what doesn’t, even if it’s objectively better for them.” And this is not the kind of book that only knows how to point what is wrong and leave you dumbfounded. There are action points and guidance on what to do next in every chapter and honestly it's so helpful.
