Lastly, ''Hang tough!'' Never, ever give up regardless of the adversity. If you are a leader, a fellow who other fellows look to, you have to keep going.”

Find sources: "Richard Winters"– news · newspapers · books · scholar · JSTOR ( July 2023) ( Learn how and when to remove this template message)On D-Day, Winters assumed leadership of the Band of Brothers when its commander was killed and led them through the Battle of the Bulge and into Germany—by which time each member had been wounded. Based on Winters’s wartime diary, Beyond Band of Brothers also includes his comrades’ untold stories. Virtually none of this material appeared in Stephen Ambrose’s Band of Brothers. Neither a protest against nor a glamorization of war, this is a moving memoir by the man who earned the love and respect of the men of Easy Company—and who is a hero to new generations worldwide. At Franklin and Marshall, Winters was a member of the Upsilon chapter of Delta Sigma Phi fraternity and participated in intramural football and basketball. He had to give up wrestling, his favorite sport, and most of his social activities for his studies and the part-time jobs that paid his way through college. He graduated in 1941 with a B.S. in Economics. He obtained the highest academic standing in the business college.

Be My Twin": "Brother Beyond – Be My Twin (single)" (in German). GfK Entertainment . Retrieved 17 March 2017. I should say that the book refers to a lot of military references and phrases and if you are unfamiliar with some of the technical aspects of warfare etc, then you might find the book hard going....in that respect you might be better reading Stephen E. Ambrose's "Band Of Brothers" book first. Winters was born in New Holland, Pennsylvania, [2] :4 to Richard and Edith Winters on January 21, 1918. [3] The family soon moved to nearby Ephrata, and then to Lancaster when he was eight years old. [2] :4 He graduated from Lancaster Boys High School in 1937 and attended Franklin and Marshall College. [3] [2] :6 I am willing to grant, I guess, that Winters was a remarkable leader, but in this ghost-written autobiography he comes across as a sanctimonious prig. He gets leave in Paris then complains that he learns too much about the construction of the Eiffel Tower because it doesn't help him as an infantry officer. He refuses to drink or get laid or do all the things everyone else was doing because he didn;t want to disrespect his unit, his army, his family, his country, etc., etc. blah blah, blah. David White obtained a BA degree in Fine Arts at Central St. Martin's College in London, and is currently studying for his Master of Art at Chelsea College of Art and Design. He has shown his paintings all around England and Israel. Its modesty, its candor, and its insights into the nature of front-line leadership and the fears and behaviors of men in combat make this memoir a classic ranking with Charles MacDonald's Company Commander." — Dennis Showalter, author of Patton and Rommel
