About this deal

Thank you to the author for sharing their experiences while also being mindful and aware of their privileges. I’m grateful to Roger Hargreaves for brightening up my childhood with both his Mr Men and the Timbuctoo series of books. Reading Greedy is like hanging out with your coolest friend--the one who knows where to find the best party in Amsterdam and the most important protest in New York; the one with the wildest stories, the perfect reading suggestions, and hundreds of thousands of Instagram followers. Greedy is the second book in the series of Mr Men books, and is about a pink blob of a character who, true to his name, is very greedy. but I also think this is going to age terribly- not just because of the references to memes and the impersonal writing, but also just because of some of the takes.

It literally felt like having a conversation with my friends outside of a gay bar we spontaneously dropped by, only to end up chain-smoking outside with a group of people we just met (one of them being a girl my friend had previously gone a date with but blew off) and guessing each other's zodiac signs (this did actually happen). The book follows Jen’s attempts to make sense of herself as she explores the role of the male gaze, what it means to be “queer enough,” and how to overcome bi stereotypes when you’re the poster-child for all of them: greedy, slutty, and constantly confused. The Good, the Bad and the Greedy explains clearly, with humour and in an easily readable form, how financial markets work, how they affect us all and how from time to time a few greedy undesirables find ways of misleading the public and swindling them. With over 6 million of the world’s best eBooks to choose from, Kobo offers you a whole world of reading. In moments I felt like I was comfortably seated on a highly-entertaining ride through Jen's experiences and personal stories, only to realize after a bit that I'd been effortlessly transported right into the heart of some of the most complex and necessary questions of our time around the intersections of gender, sexuality, power, erotics, and liberation.

This is such an easy read - the pages just slipped through my fingers with ease as I eagerly turned each page - I read it all in a few hours. The attempts at humor fell flat for me because a lot of it was just unrelatable, despite the fact that I'm around the same age, seemingly with similar interests, and grew up in the same area as the author. A highly imaginative modern retelling of fairy-tale classic, The Princess and the Pea, and much-loved nursery rhyme, There Was an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Fly, with artwork that is both stylishly detailed and incredibly funny. As a bi woman, it felt like a very validating read and helped me realize that it is OKAY to always question and grow and learn and unlearn.

However, one day on a walk he finds himself in a huge cave which contains some quite large food, so he decides to help himself, much to his own detriment. In one sense the world has changed, and people are discarded in favour of ever greater profits, and companies that seek to do the right thing are punished by the market because they are spending money that is not rightfully theirs.
