About this deal

It is a BIG book .. with so many details that take you deeper into each charachter.. i loved how she managed to get me into those people to understand their decisions and why they behave that way because she gave the proper introductions to their lives.. The plot was too simple for a suspense/thriller novel. There were so many little off-shoots that the plot could have taken that would have been mildly interesting and suspenseful. Unfortunately, the author took none of these and we were left with the unfulfilled hope that the story would become complex and live up to what it was marketed as. This one took me a little while to get into. It wasn't the writing it was the way you were dropped in at the deep end. But as the story evolved you understood more. The narrative covers a wide spectrum of human emotions, including a very caring (dare I say loving) attitude within family life - to extreme violence within the criminal fraternity, demonstrated in particular by the main character in the plot.

Betrayal by Martina Cole | Goodreads Betrayal by Martina Cole | Goodreads

Ultimately you believe the story is about that fierce loyalty of family but sometimes pride and jealously can be the strongest emotion. Any issues with the book list you are seeing? Or is there an author or series we don’t have? Let me know! I hated everything about this book. The characters, several generations of an Essex crime family, are all deeply unpleasant and carry out one atrocity after another. They're superficially glossy and care more about flashy cars and designer kitchens than about anything else. They're gangsters who are considered all right as, whatever else they do, they love their old Mum.

About Martina

I am going to admit this: I am in two minds over Betrayal. I enjoyed the story and kept listening to the audiobook, but at the same time, I can't help but think that I had read this story before...

The Family by Martina Cole | Goodreads The Family by Martina Cole | Goodreads

I had an idea of what I was letting myself in for reading BETRAYAL. Martina Cole has this magic of being able to create characters and families, all with their own different traits, but blend together really well. Excels at school but instead of academics, Aiden is taken under the wing of his mother's boyfriend Tony and is introduced to Eric Palmer a legend in East and South London and a reputation not to mess with. Whoa! Have I read a different novel that this one users rated 3 stars with? This book is horrible! I managed to read 25% of this book and decided that it's not getting better. Almost every woman in this book is treated awfully, and our “heroes” consist of a psychopathic cradle-snatcher, a domestic abuser, and a womaniser who treats attachment as a fatal flaw. All these heroes are incredibly hypocritical towards their partners and the people around them, and never get called out for it.Christine has always understood this about her husband; it was one of the things that first attracted her to him. At Holly Brookes Children’s Home, the two girls unite in the face of horrific abuse and form an unbreakable bond of loyalty. Started to read Dangerous Lady on holiday couldn’t put it down, had to finish it then bought another on my Kindle. Searching charity shops for more. Reply It’s unflinching in its portrayal of the characters we meet, and we meet some disgusting, evil, perverted ones who literally have below zero morals and then some

Loyalty By Martina Cole | New | 9781472249456 | World of Books

the over all plot is a little dramatic but the bottom line is what made me love the book, sometimes those whom we love the most are the ones who destroy us the most.. Aiden O'Hara is a Hard Man, head of his family, and in the running to take over his chosen business, which involves much illegal skulduggery. He has a large family with various brothers, all following in his footsteps, a mother who is a sort, and a holier-than-thou baby sister. Only problem is, Aiden is a psychopath with no conscience, and this is eventually his downfall. There are trigger points that deal with chid abuse, sexual and physical, rape, violence towards women, drug taking and if you flinch at the C word be prepared to flinch a lotI have read all Martina’s books listed above and now that I am retired I am going to read them all again – love love love them !! Just started reading martina’s Books, I can’t understand why I have never read them before I absolutely love them what a brilliant writer. Reply Our servers are getting hit pretty hard right now. Martina Cole About - Martina Cole

I have read many gangland books inc all of the authors previous but got to say this for me was probably the grittiest, hard hitting and genuinely brutal one yetyou can say that this is a good book–if mafia stories written on wattpad by 11-year-olds are your standard.
