About this deal

I felt that Stephen held back the truth about his first wife from Jenna a little too long, but otherwise, they communicated quite well for two people who had just met and were still getting to know each other. Soon Jenna and Steven are falling for each other, though they tread cautiously as both carry hidden wounds of their own. The serial killer, whom I suspected from the beginning, is the quarterback's fraternal twin, Josh who everyone believed to be slow-witted. She and Steven are trying to explore their feelings in the midst of his career demands and her challenges with the vandalism.

Special Agent Steven Thatcher and his family are still recovering from his son's abduction six months ago during one of his cases when he lands another case involving a missing teenager. It's not difficult to read, the plot was excellently mapped out, and I found myself wanting to read a bit more each time I went to put it down of an evening.

Steven is the agent in charge and between his very troubled son, Brad, the demanding case and his feelings for Jenna, he has a lot going on and Jenna is in the middle of it all. When Seattle detective Neil Davies learns of the North Carolina murders, he's certain a previous suspect (released on a technicality three years before) is responsible. I loved that I was wrong about who the killer was (that almost never happens to me) and I loved the twist of it. I never pick the killer out, its always the least suspected person committing the murder or crimes, even though sometimes the evidence points to someone and im sitting there thinking i know whats going on, in reality i have absolutely no idea, Karen Rose mindfucks the shit out of the reader like that.

D., is Brad's teacher, and upon his latest failing grade on a test for a class in which he'd previously done very well, Jenna can't keep from contacting his father any longer. The quarterback and his friends had been harassing Jenna and vandalizing her classroom, egged on by his father, while Josh had been targeting girls who looked like Jenna until he saw her with Steven and she fell from the pedestal he'd put her on.Karen Rose is superb at what she does, she knows how to grip readers from the first page and there’s plenty of twists and turns. May contain mild to moderate sexual tension and/or possible implications of something more taking place off canvas, but nothing beyond kissing actually occurs within the text. Of course Jenna is perfect - the only person in the whole wide world who can get through to Nicky, and though he has been parenting by himself for years and she has no kids – only she can solve the parenting problem Steven is having with Brad. We always endeavor not to give away endings or major plot twists in either our synopses or reviews, however they may occasionally contain information which some readers might consider to be mild spoilers. I was also hoping for more time spent on the mystery and not Steven's "woe is me" angst or people telling him he needs to get married again for the sake of his boys -- which again, product of its time.
