Every member of 10cc was a multi-instrumentalist, singer, writer and producer, and the writing teams frequently switched partners, so that Godley/Gouldman or Creme/Stewart compositions were not uncommon. After Godley and Creme left the band in 1976, Gouldman and Stewart were the main creative forces behind 10cc. Stewart left the band after 1995 and Gouldman continues to lead a touring version of 10cc. Queen Ween Wow, this album is like listening to the byproducts of unbounded creativity of for four very very gifted individuals, and boy is it just bouncing with fantastic audio delights, as well as very witty and poignant lyrics. Three singles were taken from the album, all of them released in 1974. The lead single "The Worst Band in the World" failed to chart, while the follow-up " The Wall Street Shuffle" made #10 in the UK and #2 in the Netherlands. The third single " Silly Love" made #24 in the UK.However they have managed this task, the result is profoundly effective ... 10 CC are truly in a glass by themselves. As someone once said about another one of a kind band, The Grateful Dead, “They’re not the best at what they do, they’re the only ones who do what they do.” The same can be said for 10 CC ... it’s all for the good time and pure fun ... though the music is seriously good. BASICS: 10CC, Steely Dan, Hunter Thompson ... I put the three of these in the same class ... and as I think about it, I might want to throw Frank Zappa in that mix as well. 10 CC are extremely brilliant, seem completely natural, unpretentious in the development and execution of their art, and they have a way of bending words that brings on a big “Ah Ha ...” Once you hear what they have to say, you are left wondering why you weren’t able to have seen or said things in such a cinematic manner ... it’s all about the word play, and there are fewer things finer in music or literature then that.
