I also wasn’t a fan of the Church that was involved. While you may think some myths are self-explanatory, Steen looks at their origins and if there are nuggets of truth in the myths.

Until Ali visits one of her aunts, Ali’s family finds it difficult to comprehend her obsession. Although Johnson uses visual details and beautiful language throughout her book, the majority of the aspects in her novel are unrealistic. This isn’t a huge deal since most kids have vivid imaginations. Here’s a gorgeously illustrated book from the snake’s perspective. Verdi is a young python who loves his yellow skin. He does not want to grow up and turn green like all the pythons. To rebel against the change, Verdi tries everything he can think of, but doing so lands him in some trouble. This book is about accepting change while still remaining true to oneself. How Snake Got His Hiss: An Original TalebyMarguerite W. Davol, illustrated by Mercedes McDonald A few reviewers pointed out some inaccuracies, such as calling snakes “poisonous” instead of “venomous.”
Miscellaneous Snake Books
I am so here for this cover design and for this book. Sigourney Rose is out for revenge after her island’s colonizers murdered her family. Sigourney is ambitious and powerful: she has the ability to manipulate and reads minds. When the childless king of the islands declares that he will choose his successor from amongst eligible noble families, Sigourney uses her powers to set her revenge in motion. This epic fantasy read explores and peels away the layers of privilege and power. The Little Snake by A.L. Kennedy Godey is different because if anything, his story is pro-snake. And refreshingly so. As a lifelong herpetology enthusiast, I really appreciate that positive outlook on some of the animals I love the most. Below are two honorable mentions that specialize in a niche topic. Honorable Mention #1: The Ultimate Ball Python: Morph Maker Guide Our favorite thing in this book had to be the information on the Titanoboa, a 50-foot-long prehistoric snake. Children will want to refer to this book often because it is filled with amazing illustrations, entertaining activities and quizzes, and startling information about anatomy, diet, and personality.
