About this deal

Hopefully they make some after the fact. LEGO sets based on movies are usually better after the movie has come out anyway, as most sets that coincide with a movie release end up being based off limited concept art so designs or content is slightly inaccurate or just laughably wrong (looking at you 76008 Iron Man 3: Mandarin Showdown)

Personally, my family took me to see Temple of Doom, at the theater when I was 13-14ish years old. I loved the film then and I recently watched it about a month ago, enjoying it even more at age 52. This film has amazing set pieces / scenes that should be depicted in LEGO form. But like yours, which I respect, this is just my opinion. Perhaps Lego can pay a little more attention to prevent issues like this where lots of resources have been wasted in a product that will never reach the shelves and by doing so hopefully reduce the need to increase prices to, among other things, cover for those losses." Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom has also been criticised for its portrayal of Indian culture since the film was released. Inspired by television serials of the early twentieth century, the film presents a rather negative caricature of India and one LEGO might choose to avoid altogether.Fight more Thuggees just inside this large, open area. Then move to the right and break up the pile of planks in the round opening next to the broken engine. When the rubble disappears, you'll find a handle. Carry it to the left and snap it onto the green piece on the wall. Then pull the handle to extend a staircase. (Watch out for a Thuggee with a crossbow lurking over here if you didn't get him earlier.) Honestly, I am surprised by many of the comments that I just read above. Chill out! All of these CRT buzzwords like cultural appropriation, colonization, values, etc, etc… Let’s avoid being woke snowflakes. Not likely anyone will melt if this set is re-released.

They try and sweep things under the rug and hope everyone forgets the issue, with hopes of protecting their brand image. Naturally more Thuggees come running to see what's happened. As you fight them, one of the freed slaves goes through the crawlspace at the top of the steps on the right and pulls the lever there to raise the 2 square platforms below. You'll use these to reach the exit soon, but there's more to do here first. It clearly would have been a PR eyesore in this form, capturing all of the problematic qualities of the film. I think 7199 is less bad in this regard and rereleasing it would probably be a better way to do a set for the film instead. That's his overall philosophy. He's happy to work as a professor (except grading papers lol), not live a high life and use small artifacts to help sell to the museum to fund his 'adventures'. Again he doesn't do it for monetary gain. But to protect these priceless artifacts from people who'll exploit those indigenous cultures.

It’s a bit of an ambiguous statement, and all it says that it’s NOT part of the April 2023 release, so who knows if its truly cancelled, or its been delayed.FREE PLAY: If you didn't bring a shovel from the slave cage area, don't worry. You can use a character with the excavation ability to dig up the skulls and get artifact piece #9 when you replay the level later. That said, it’s incredibly disappointing to not have a set from The Temple of Doom, and LEGO Indiana Jones fans will sorely miss Short Round, Willie Scott, Mola Ram and more. The dinner scene, where non-Thuggee Indians are shown enjoying disgusting "food" consisting of bugs, live eels, and, of course, chilled monkey brains. Easily the segment of the film that has aged the worse, IMO. This impressive Temple of the Golden Idol LEGO® set for adults looks great displayed on a shelf and has lots of interactive functions, including Indiana Jones swinging across a cavern and being chased by a massive boulder. It is possible that the set has been merely delayed, but I think LEGO would emphasise that in the statement, if so."
