About this deal

A raven skull tattoo may be a suitable memorial, and many people get tattoos as a way to work through their grief. Perhaps the most significant ravens in Norse mythology were those owned by the Norse God, Odin. Referred to at times as “Hrafnaguð”, Odin was known as the “Raven God”.

As I delved deeper into the mythology and symbolism behind Raven Skulls, I discovered that they carry a rich history and meaning. The Raven has long been associated with death and the afterlife, but it's also a symbol of wisdom, intelligence, and magic. It's a complex symbol that has been used throughout history in art, literature, and mythology. Many people throughout the Scandinavian landscape, England, and other parts of the world have continued to hold onto some of the symbolism of Viking ravens over the years. These creatures are still seen by many to be symbols of wisdom, and almost magical to behold. The evolution of raven symbolism As mentioned before, war and death are the common associations for the raven. This association came from the Celts. They took part in many battles throughout their time, meaning that they would often see ravens eating the dead on the battlefield, hence the connection. For people throughout the Scandinavian region, and other cultures influenced by the Vikings over the years, the raven remains a valuable symbol. The Icelandic Institute of National History, known as Náttúrafræðistofnun Íslands, uses a raven as its symbol.Scythe, a tool with a long curved blade attached to a handle, is used for agricultural purposes like mowing grass and harvesting crops. According to Greek mythology, a scythe is the weapon of the Grim Reaper, the mythical personification of death. The raven was the first bird mentioned in the Hebrew Bible, with other birds mentioned on numerous occasions throughout other verses of the book. Odin’s ravens also played a role in the journey to the afterlife. According to Viking culture, Odin was responsible for selecting half of the warriors killed in battle to join him in Valhalla. While ravens in modern culture haven’t always had the best associations, they’re revered as a crucial mystical creature in Iceland. In many parts of the world, ravens are seen as scavengers, but Viking ravens were creatures of prophecy and guardianship. In Norse mythology and Viking culture, there’s often a strong focus on the concept of the “cycle of life”. Vikings believe death and rebirth are constantly connected, in an infinite balance.
