She could enjoy her pretty, perfect world a little longer. Soon enough, everything she owned would be mine.” Judge Aubrey jailed Bottomley for four years in respect of the woman. He imposed a consecutive 10 years, with an extended one year on licence as an "offender of particular concern", in respect of the schoolgirl.

I have been waiting to meet Nash Prescott and the it was totally worth the wait. This book, the first in the Cruel Crown series is so good, it will keep up to finish the listen! This enemies to lovers story is not your typical listen. It's fresh, original and oh, so sexy. Emery is down and out after her father's reputation is tarnished. Now believing her trust fund is tainted, she is set on making it on her own, It's not easy, so taking a job with her best friend's brother is a last resort. When Nash realizes the daughter of the man who ruined his family's life is now working for him, the one that accidentally landed in his bed 4 years earlier, he is determined to make her life miserable. But what these two don't know is how their journey will go. Huntington is a master at suspense, intrigue and romance. There are twists and turns in this that are surprising and so well written, I just could not stop listening. Smart and sexy is how I would best describe it and some humor to lighten the mood at times that will make you spit out your drink! I am hooked again, and can't wait for more. Her father, Gideon Winthrop had made a wrong business decision and went into debt, hereby having him lose his company. He went into hiding and abandoned his family. How would he not hide after making a lot of the citizens of Eastridge broke, and having told them, Devious Lies, while they believed in him? what a man! Emery Winthrop needed help.

Part 3: Evaluate Devious Lies

Nash Prescott was thrift-shop beauty, threadbare and jaded, the memory of something once beautiful lingering as he looked on the world with war-torn eyes.'

Wow, I totally didn’t expect this book and how much I was going to love it. It blew my mind. This book has a gorgeous cover, which is the first thing I noticed. Then it kept popping everywhere and being recommended by a lot of people, and to be honest that always scares me because so many times before I haven’t loved books that everyone else loves. Well, I’m happy to say that this time they were right with the recommendation cause this book was all sorts of amazing and it hooked me from the first word. I don't know where to start, and I know I can't do this story justice in my review, but this is one very special novel. It is FANTASTIC. This is a gem of a tale. It's big, it's gutsy, it's an amazingly well crafted enemies-to-lovers story.I had a plan to escape the friend zone. Step one: sneak into Reed’s room. Step two: sleep with him.

She could enjoy her pretty, perfect world a little longer. Soon enough, everything she owned would be mine." What I love more: he’s a grump but still a caring, kind hearted person that’s too hard on himself which Emery notices and cherishes. I love his awareness and philosophical brain. From USA Today bestselling author Parker S. Huntington comes an enemies-to-lovers, slow-burn romance full of revenge and a dash of fate. “She could enjoy her pretty, perfect world a little longer. Soon enough, everything she owned would be mine.” I had a plan to escape the friend zone. Step one: sneak into Reed’s room. Step two: sleep with him. But when the lights turned on, it wasn’t familiar blue eyes I saw. These were dark, angry, and full of demons. And they belonged to Reed’s much older brother. Four years later, Nash Prescott is no longer the help’s angry son. I’m no longer the town’s prized princess. At twenty-two, I’m broke, in need of a job. At thirty-two, he’s a billionaire, in need of revenge. Who cares if my family ruined his? Who cares if he looks at me with pure loathing? Who cares if every task he assigns me is designed to torture? I need the money. Simple as that. I’ll suffer his cruelty in silence, knowing there’s one thing he wants more than revenge… Me. Note: This is a 145,000-word standalone in the Cruel Crown world. Welcome to Eastridge. Enter if you dare. Devious Lies (Cruel Crown, #1) by Parker S. Huntington – eBook Details See what I mean...about the dramatics? I really wish I could see them both in the same saintly light, but I think this book tried too hard with the whole "I feed the homeless, im so selfless and such a good person😩" script that I mostly cringed. This is the second book I read from Parker S. Huntington, and for the second time, I'm left stunned, breathless, speechless. This is a literate masterpiece.PDF / EPUB File Name: Devious_Lies__-_Parker_S_Huntington.pdf, Devious_Lies__-_Parker_S_Huntington.epub Yep. I’m still madly in love with Nash and Emery. They’re so beautifully matched. They’re soulmates and it shows. Like mentioned earlier, Nash hated the Winthrop family. He blamed them for the death of his father. It was interesting to see this character begin to realize that he may have gotten somethings wrong and that he may have feelings for Emery. And then we have Emery. She had this huge guilt over what happened. After her father’s company collapsed, several people lost their job and although she wasn’t responsible for it, she had this guilt. Also, she went from having everything handed to her, to having nothing. She lived in a literal closest trying to make ends meet. But she never lost her spark. This by far has taken me the longest to finish a book as it just dragged on....The first 40% was a confusing mess. I’m still not sure I quite understand it’s purpose other than rambling. From Emery muttering “pretty words”... each chapter was something more rediculous... And obviously, I recommend this to whoever has eyes, too, of course, because that impossibly hot COVER is the cherry on top to a cake you didn't know you needed in your life, but definitely do.

For the record, Heath Ledger played the best Joker, and I’d annihilate anyone who argues with me about it.) This book is about 5 hours too long, there are chapters and chapters that should have been edited out. They were unnecessary and added nothing to the book. The main characters were frustrating. Emery just pissed me off with her stupid stubborn behaviour, but I didn’t hate her. What I did hate though was Nash acting like a complete di**head towards her without any real evidence that’s she deserved to be treated badly. I hate that his actions were basically forgiven, all because he started to feed her. Like are you serious?

Amidst all these going on in Devious Lies, and fast forward to a couple of years later, Nash Prescott had become a wealthy young man and had a company of his own, while Emery Winthrop, daughter of Gideon Winthrop had become poor. As in, she was very hopelessly poor. I’m all for slow burners but this felt like it was moving at a snail pace, I had to listen to a lot of it at 1.25x speed just so I wouldn’t throw a fit. first things first…this book doesn’t even deserve one star, but here we are. the wait for this review is over hehe, enjoy!<33 Despite their history which we learn about as we go along, this is a slow burn. The push and pull and the warring between them is really well written. The use of words, which is Emmory’s thing is really well done. The two slowly become closer until the inevitable happens, although there are plenty of plot twists along the way. There are some great side characters, and some great villains. Only thing I would criticise is the Reed/Basil situation. There is something towards the end which suggests some intrigue and I did wonder if another book was in the offing about Reed, however the epilogue suggests this won’t be the case? Other than this though it’s a great story.
