The count of a fabric tells you how many cross stitches are in an inch of the fabric, so if you were using Aida 14 fabric for a cross stitch project, you would expect to stitch 14 cross stitches across to cover an inch of the fabric. This can help you to calculate the size of your finished cross stitch project.
