There’s the “Alto”, which takes its aesthetic influences from the signature Wayfarer style of brands like Ray-Ban, as well as the ‘Rondo”, which offers a more rounded frame style. The closer the amp rating of the charger is to the maximum amp rating of the product, the more quickly the product will recharge. Bose has the marketing muscle to make something like this seem cool, and with the Bose AR platform slowly coming to light with its existing headphone range, this feels like a perfect match for the company.

Bose has an answer for this though as the Frames also come in a smaller, more rounded form factor, named “Rondo”. Instead they are a pair of audio sunglasses that also have some limited smart functionality tacked on. Of course, the one thing those types of device offer over the Alto is some degree of sound suppression.

Sound is clearly lacking in presence, frequency and dynamics by the time it leaves the frame temples and reaches the ear of the listener.As noted, the Frames are the first commercial product built to work with Bose's new audio augmented-reality platform.

As much as I would love to see some added weather protection and a USB type C port for the next revision of the Bose Frames, this is still a solid product with huge potential. The music is directed straight to your ear through small speaker grilles, while cancelling sound is projected out into the world. That would have been a handy addition, but instead the glasses are charged via a proprietary cable that connects to a part inside the right arm of the product.
