About this deal

However, whilst 4.6kg is light, it’s still heavier than some other trimmers on the market. For instance, the Bosch AHS 45-16 (which is DIY Garden’s top recommendation when it comes to hedge trimmers), weighs just 2.6kg. The first thing I noticed about the design of this hedge trimmer was its lightweight build. At just 4.6 kg, it was very easy to lift out of the box. This hedge trimmer has a 45 cm blade which is a great length for working across medium hedges. I found it easy to reach the tops of the hedges in my garden. There’s also a bright orange 10 m cable included, which is longer than the 6 m cable on the Bosch AHS 45-16. The cable is orange, so it’s easy to spot even in long grass.

The AHS 45-16 is one of the best hedge trimmers manufactured by Bosch. They’ve managed to design an extremely lightweight and easy to operate machine without sacrificing any power. With teeth on both sides of the blade, you can sweep the trimmer in either direction, making it easy to use. Also, it’s suitable for both left- and right-handed users, as the triggers are centrally located. People mostly seem to be impressed by how easy it is to use, allowing them to finally get on top of trimming their hedges before they get out of control. If you have a garden with smaller hedges that don’t need too much maintenance, it’s hard to see past the Bosch AHS 45-16. It’s extremely affordable, does the job well, and you won’t feel too tired after using it because of its lightweight and ergonomic design. The cable length is another plus. At 10m, it’s a lot longer than others on the market. Personally, I still had to use an extension cable, and I do think this will probably be the case for most people, but it still offers a bit of freedom. Also, when trimming, you do need to be mindful not to cut through the cable. However, at least the bright orange colour makes it easier to spot. This hedge trimmer felt very safe to use overall. It comes with extremely detailed safety instructions in multiple languages, and the ease of assembly means there’s not much that could go wrong during set up. Affordability, power, ergonomics and comfort. These are all the things that make the Bosch AHS 45-16 the perfect hedge cutter for smaller hedges. The 3.6V Lithium Ion battery runs for 40 minutes between charges (recharging takes about 3.5 hours), there’s a choice of an 8cm grass blade and 12cm shrub blade, and the tool-free blade switching couldn’t be simpler.

As I moved around the garden, the Bosch EasyHedgeCut 45 did start to feel heavy; those couple of extra kilograms probably do make a difference. Nevertheless, it was still well balanced and easy to control. As mentioned, the safety trigger and on/off trigger need to be held down at the same time to start the machine. This means the hedge trimmer cannot be started without both hands on it at once, so you’ll always have control over the machine. This hedge cutter is extremely easy to start; simply hold one hand down on the safety trigger, then use the other hand to press on the on/off trigger. Both of these need to be pushed down simultaneously for the trimmer to work. I found the switches to be light and therefore not too taxing to hold. My fingers did get tired eventually, but this was after a good 30 minutes of hedge trimming! Fret not because we've gathered together a fine tranche of hedge clippers that perform the task of hedge trimmery with exemplary skill. As with T3’s Best Strimmer, Best Cordless Lawn Mower and Best Chainsaw buying guides, we've included the best hedge trimmers at a variety of price points here, making sure there is a top-rated model for every budget. We've also included some buying advice at the bottom of this article that we think will help you find the best hedge trimmer for your needs. There are quite a few small handheld hedge trimmers around – Bosch alone makes several different models, and lots of rivals do too – but we think this set offers the best combination of usefulness and flexibility.AHS 45-16 er en af de billigste modeller i Bosch’ sortiment af hækkeklippere. Modellen er eldrevet, hvilket giver den dårlige mobilitet sammenlignet med en akku-hækkeklipper, men mindsker til gengæld også dens pris væsentligt. Okay, now that you’re familiar with hot the AHS 45-16 compares to other Bosch models, let’s get into the details and see what exactly makes this model so special. Key Features In today’s review, I’ll go through the most important features of the Bosch AHS 45-16 and how they can benefit you and your hedges. Let’s take a look! What I’ll Cover…

Worx garden products have really impressed this writer and not just because every product I’ve tested of theirs performs the task it was made for, but also because I’m fond of the company’s product designs. Granted, branding and looks shouldn’t play a part in choosing garden gear, but every time I see a WORX product I just want to get my hands on it (witness the company’s LeafJet blower or Landroid M500 robot mower). In the pantheon of garden products, their stuff screams ‘buy me’. While it’s only the smallest of the Bosch hedge cutter line, it still delivers amazing performance thanks to its 420W motor and should cut easily through most hedges found in the average UK garden. Alternatives OptionsIt’s worth mentioning that the RSPB would prefer that we didn’t cut some kinds of hedges between March and August. That’s because some birds nest in hedges, so for example in Scotland gardeners have been asked to keep their clippers in the garage until sparrows have fled their nests. Good call. The real draw here is the weight: at just 530g you won’t end up with a bad case of Gorilla Arm after using it for protracted pruning. You wouldn’t want to prune a Victorian maze with it, that’s for sure, but for relatively titchy topiary, it’s ideal. How to buy the best hedge trimmer for you Once I began to use the hedge trimmer, I found it extremely easy to get to grips with – this seems to be a running theme with a lot of Bosch products. I simply used large sweeping motions and the finish was very neat.

This extendable cordless hedge edger lets you trim without the need for a ladder; it has a reach of around 10 feet. For a cordless model, the Gtech HT 50 is light-ish at 2.94kgs and pretty well designed. It couldn’t be simpler to assemble as it’s comprised of just four parts: a blade housing, a control handle, a 90cm aluminium extension arm and a small, lightweight 18v Lithium-Ion battery.

Anmeldelser af Bosch AHS 45-16

One thing I will say is that parts of the plastic construction didn’t feel quite as sturdy as I expected. For example, the blade guard especially is made from fairly flimsy plastic, and doesn’t feel particularly durable. As with all powerful garden tools, safety equipment is still highly recommended. I wore a hard hat and protective eyewear, and of course you should wear sturdy shoes and avoid loose-fitting clothing. As you’d expect from any Bosch machine, this model is very easy to use. It feels very well balanced, so even as I started to get a little tired, I didn’t find that I struggled to maintain control. As with most power tools, the main choice is corded or cordless: a battery-powered devices’ running time is of course limited by their battery, but corded trimmers run the risk of accidentally cutting the power cable and possibly being too far away from a mains source. Which reminds us – always put an RCD on the plug your power tool’s connected to.
