Until about 50-60% the story was really good, I liked it. The dialogues were a little strange here and there, but I wasn't bothered, because the anticipation was strong and the tension was there, Phoenix and Holden started hooking up and were keeping it on the down low, I was excited about where it would lead, was up for a lot of secret hot sex and really wanted for that to continue. As someone who has unfortunately been a folding chair and has put other's feelings before my own at the cost of me breaking I have never related to a character (for this point) more.

So, I did not expect to love this lol. Mostly because Iced Out didn’t work for me AND Chelsea talked about how she HATED this book while writing it. Which I should’ve known would mean I’d love it because girlie hates Don't You Dare and that’s one of my all time faves. My rating is pretty low, so let’s move to the things that didn’t worked out for me in this book. Only at the beginning. These are my thoughts and opinions, so of course not everyone will agree. Phoenix and Kason had a terrible friendship, that's not being besties, that's just toxic, they should break it up, yesterday.At the beginning of this book there is an authors note stating this book won’t be for everyone due to a love triangle, forbidden relationship, cheating adjacent kind of situation. If this would trigger you, definitely don’t read it but thankfully I was one of those people this book worked for. I absolutely loved it! The secrecy, the pranks, the anger, the swooning, the hurt, the love. I was here for all of it!

Quinn is the bad boy with the attitude and a fiery temper and getting under Oak's skin is one of his favourite things to do and also getting under him too.Being a closeted emo fan is honestly me sometimes! My Spotify playlist is just a mashup of random genres and I can never explain my musical taste with anything other than "eclectic" honestly 😂😂 Then Holden starts trying to hook up with/date Phoenix is best friend who Phoenix is very protective of. Phoenix could tell Kason his best friend about what happened with Holden, but he doesn't. Instead he starts a prank war with Holden to keep them apart. Over the next few weeks, Kason and Holden hang out a bit but don't have sex. Kason catches feelings. But Holden is getting more and more obsessed with Phoenix as their prank war escalates.

About the story. Phoenix or "Nix" had a one night stand with Holden which end up poorly for them as Holden was too drunk to remember anything about it, leading to them not talking about the incident for half a year. Six months later, Phoenix's best friend is on the verge of making the same mistake with the school playboy, so he decides to stop him. The problem is that he falls in love with Holden along the way. Without telling a thing to Kason. His mentioned best friend. My path to success never included an enemy as a teammate, especially one as infuriating as Quinton de Haas. At the end of this and really thinking about it, this book just didn’t make me feel good. I just feel sad for all of them. I don’t plan to continue this series.

I never imagined that drive would lead me to do the unthinkable: falling into bed with my not-so-straight rival. Now you have to live with them.” So there I was, firmly expecting to be underwhelmed, when at some point, I actually began liking it. Was it predictable? Yes, especially the drama towards the end. But I got what I came for, even though all the dramatic apologies from Oak were a bit much. The story was about Holden, Oakley's bestie, who's a playboy, so he's going around having fun, doesn't hurt anyone, since everyone knows up front that he doesn't want anything serious with anyone, and Phoenix, who's from a wealthy family, has a younger adopted sister and is a really nice guy. He has a very co-dependent friendship with Kason since they were kids, since Kason's had a terrible childhood and spent the majority of time growing up with Phoenix at his home. Next rule,” I grind out, rather than letting him bait me into retaliation. “No one can know about this. Especially not Coach or the team.”
