About this deal

Compared to her other books this is on the higher end of the spice-o-meter for sure, still in true Jen style we get that delightful simmering slow burn and tension but ya’ll once the spice hit, it was indeed spicing away.

I really liked her interactions with her prince, Thorne, as she learns more about him and his powers. Fall of Ruin and Wrath follows Calista, a mortal who can see the future and has a strong intuition where she lives hidden at the Baron of Archwood's Palace. releasing this after a successful project has to be the biggest downgrade and i haven't even read fbaa and its spin-off. There was a few info dumps decently spaced throughout the book… however… I walked away mostly confused on how the information provided connected to what was being discussed or just plain confused.

I loved Thorn from the beginning but the author did her best to tear that down and make me rethink my very emotional and definitive decision. Rather than loading information onto the reader at the start, instead readers learn through conversation throughout the story. Then again if this turns out to be another spin-off of the Blood And Ash books I'm also VERY down for it!

I’m finding the same with the main characters of this novel as well, but they’re even more boring and plain and generic.

Calista finds herself torn between her intuition, which may save her from danger, and her heart, which pulls her towards a potentially doomed fate.

I've included for reference the other series ellipsis count below and JLA has, in fact, surpassed her previous works. I get that the eye color has a special quality but every time she identifies someone from the servant class by their brown eyes is just… sigh.Instead, they provided food only once a year, when much of the food went to waste while everyone was engaging in those certain activities. They could take different shapes, whip rivers into a frenzy with a flick of their wrists, and even seize the souls of the lowborn, creating the terrifying creatures known as the Rae.
