The last Uzi project I listened to was Eternal Atake, an album I considered to be one of the biggest letdowns in the history of the trap genre. In fact, almost every Uzi project is a letdown, and as the years go by this sad fact becomes more and more frustrating. I feel like there is a great album in Uzi somewhere as they have always had a lot of creativity and personality, but unfortunately I have yet to hear it. What is even more unfortunate is that this album does not change that, as it's overly-long, inconsistent and all over the place composition-wise and stylistically. It's not all bad news, as I like this album significantly more than Eternal Atake. It has many more memorable songs and Uzi's attempts at genre crossovers make this album much more interesting to listen to. Pink Tape is Lil Uzi Vert’s highly anticipated third full-length studio album following their July 2022 EP, RED & WHITE — two colors when mixed create pink. The album marks Uzi’s first in three years and was released on June 30, 2023, just one week after National Pink Day. On December 2, 2021, Uzi appeared on a live stream with Kai Cenat, in which they confirmed that the album would be completed the same night.

Statistics

On June 26, 2023, Uzi released the Gibson Hazard-directed trailer for the album to build anticipation leading up to it. Not that many features, but it’s the features that everybody think I should have…where I started is where imma finish"

So yeah, I can't say I enjoyed this album overall. It certainly has some great songs and I admire Uzi's attempts to branch out beyond his traditional sound, but for every decent or great song a completely horrible one follows it. I think this album could have been great had a lot of the chaff in the middle been removed and if they had just not done so many cringey interpolations, but it is what it is. The best compliment I can give this album is that despite not being an Uzi fan it exceeded my expectations following the mediocre Eternal Atake.
