About this deal

The southern half of Rum is home to the monumental Rum Cuillin Ridge – a mountainous series of peaks that culminates with the Askival Corbett at 2,660 feet. Traversing these ridges is a challenge for even advanced hikers but it has to be one of the most enjoyable ways to experience the island. A top floor mezzanine bar with panoramic views of the Leith and Edinburgh skyline and shop complete this one-of-a-kind building. Like Christmas cake in a bottle, it is made usingrumdistilled from freshly pressed sugar cane juice on the Island of Madeira. The nine-storey distillery will produce Scotland’s national drink using barley sourced from a single farm on the outskirts of the city and water pumped from the nearby Pentland Hills.

A classic London Dry Gin, Lind & Lime Ginis produced using just seven botanicals, with juniper at its core, complemented by fresh lime peel and pink peppercorn. Discover wonderful wildlife tours to book and experience in Scotland, including bird watching safaris, whale watching, farm tours and much more!

Housed within the buzzing Cold Town House, visitors get the chance to go behind the scenes of this city-centre microbrewery, find out how Cold Town Beer is made and follow the process from pipe to tap. Led by a member of their expert brewing team, this is a great opportunity to ask all those questions you’ve ever had about the magical process of brewing. Port of Leith Distillery sits on Leith’s waterfront and is inspired by the history of the iconic port district, itself a former epicentre of whisky production.

We deliver to a number of international destinations including the USA. Please use the 'Change Location' link above for an estimate in your local currency or find out more about international delivery Although Rum is best explored on a mountain bike, day-trippers on foot will find a number of short walks around the ferry jetty and the village of Kinloch, as well as the beautiful Kinloch Castle. It’s a short walk to the end of the footpath which stops at a man-made dam across the Allt Slugan a’ Choilich burn, but it’s worth the effort involved as the views along the entire length are incredible.A range of bespoke experiences, including tailored and tutored tastings, masterclasses, food pairing experiences and fine dining can also be arranged for groups and private visits.

The experienced rum hosts and mixologists will also discuss interesting rum topics and answer any and all questions guests may have, with the SDL team adding that pirate costumes are entirely optional. Ever fancied taking a trip down one of Edinburgh's most stunning canal runs on board a boat filled with tasty rums? Well, we have an event that might just be for you. It’s very, very scenic though, and it has an otherworldly beauty that guarantees it will stay in your memory for a long time. You can spice up your festive food pairings this Christmas - by using a dash of rum. Adding a dash can elevate honey-glazed carrots, roasted sweet potatoes, or butternut squash from a side dish to the main character. The entire island is managed by the public body Nature Scot as a National Nature Reserve, and due to the fact it’s so remote and has just 40 people living on it, Rum is one of the few places in Scotland that remains almost entirely unchanged by tourism. Over the course of 90 minutes, visitors will be guided through the story of this unique distillery, fill their own miniature bottle of New Make spirit and taste their way through the distillery’s production process in its purpose built Quality Control Tasting Laboratory. Fishing. There are six lochs on Rum (Loch Papadil, Loch Coire nan Gruund, Loch MacIvor, Loch Fiachanis, Loch a’Ghillie Reamhra, and Loch Longwhich) which are open for fishing between April and October.

The landscape breaks away into patches of woodland near Kilmory and it’s in this area where I saw the majority of the island’s famed red deer, perhaps because of the safety the nearby trees offered them. Natural sweetness and warm spice on the nose, Banditti Club opens up to toasted pineapple and orange on the palate with notes of clove and anise that lead to a long spicy finish. The west-facing road heads across the island to Harris where the Bullough family mausoleum has stood watch over the clifftops for well over a hundred years.

But even so, they didn’t hang about and I was only able to watch them for a few minutes before they all disappeared over the hills.
