Pernille Hughes (pronounced Pernilla) has previously had two novels published, PROBABLY THE BEST KISS IN THE WORLD and PUNCH-DRUNK LOVE. Her writing has also been printed in the Sunday Times . Thank you so much to Harper 360/One More Chapter and NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to read an advanced (e-)reader copy and a chance to rate and review this book! Authors, if you are a member of the Goodreads Author Program, you can edit information about your own books. Find out how in this guide. https://linktr.ee/TenYears This is my third book, an enemies to lovers story, spanning ten years and roaming from London to Snowdonia to Cannes. One of the main things I liked is that for the first few chapters you think the story line will centre primarily around a tragic loss and how the characters adapt. However, it turns into something else, lighter hearted, entertaining yet still realistic in recognising how people cope differently with grief.

A truly well written, uplifting, entertaining story that envoked a complex of emotions whilst reading. Ten Years by Pernille Hughes was a fun read for me. Charlie and Becca have a history and then are constantly being thrown together because of their mutual love of Ally who is terminally ill. The bulk of the story is about Becca and Charlie traversing grief and finding themselves and what they really want over the course of 10 years. I enjoyed returning to these characters each morning and evening as I read this book and recommend it is a fun romantic tale and will look forward to other books by this author. This is a slow burn, but you will root for them the entire book. The banter was great between the two characters, and their individual character arcs were well-developed. I liked how their lives and careers crossed paths, even if they made it a plan to see each other for Ally’s sake. Over the course of ten years, Becca and Charlie’s paths collide as they deal with grief, love and life after Ally. Not since Emma and Dex in One Day and Will and Lou in Me Before You will you root for a couple as much. I loved the way the characters interacted. Charlie and Becca hate each other but their love for Ally and Ally’s mother brings them together regularly over ten years to remember Ally.In TEN YEARS, it's a long, very long, slow burn of somewhat mutual hatred for … ten years. Almost too excruciatingly slow. I know, I know. However - it was worth the wait. In between tears and smiles as I read, I also had proper heart flutters… The sign of seriously good story tell ing’ Jules Wake I’m not ashamed to say I shed a few tears whilst reading this book. The grief must both process is huge and it was quite refreshing to see from the point of view from a best friend. Everyone expects a fiancée to be sad but losing your best friend must be absolutely devastating. Especially if you don’t have family support. The cover gives away how Ten Years is going to end, but the story is well worth the read. There are very predictable moments and moments where the reader has to suspend disbelief and just enjoy the story, but all in all, it's an enjoyable romantic story. As these two force themselves to honor Ally with their tasks over the course of 10 years, they are forced into a deeper introspection with several missteps along the way. But isn't that the journey of life; moving forward and looking deep inside to see who you are to better understand the world around you?

Ten Years’ is about grief, friendship and the true meaning of love, and was an absolute joy to read from start to finish. In fact I did not want it to end. The story and the writing were very raw, and it dealt with some difficult and emotional subjects. At the same time I really enjoyed the relationship between the two main characters. There was a fantastic balance of light and dark in the story which really worked for me. It's one of those books that grab you from the start, the kind you can't stop reading till the end and the kind that stays with you for a long time. However, the book's pacing can feel a little uneven at times, and some of the conflicts and resolutions may feel a bit contrived. Additionally, the ending may not satisfy some readers who prefer a more definitive conclusion.Before she moved to writing full-time, Pernille (pronounced Pernilla) Hughes studied Film & Literature at university. After graduating she went into advertising and later on to market Natural History films before working in Children’s television, which meant living in actual Teletubbyland for a while! From 2011–2015, she was a regular contributor for the Sunday Times column ‘Confessions of a Tourist’. She has two novels published to date PROBABLY THE BEST KISS IN THE WORLD and PUNCH-DRUNK LOVE (formerly published as Sweatpants At Tiffanie’s). Her next book TEN YEARS will be out in August 2022. I do not even know where to begin. This is a relatively short story, a tale of love and survival told through a few distinct and memorable days in the lives of the main characters, BJ and Charlie, spread over 10 years. I unequivocally LOVED this book…for anyone who loves a romance that isn't twee or cookie cutter, with an impossibly perfect heroine’ Fiona This book is simply to die for. It’s stunning in its approach to life, death, love, and raw reality that I have been left with such a complex devastation now that I am finished the book. The storyline was not as predictable as I originally thought it would be and kept me guessing as to quite how things would work out between them. I also cared deeply about both characters.

You told me once that the last of the senses to go is hearing. But you're wrong. The last of the senses to go is love.”Unfortunately these two can't stand one another & they have history from when they were all at Uni together. Some days I feel I’ve lived more than one lifetime, so, couldn’t we be right for each other this time around?” Such a warm, lovely read with two characters you're desperately rooting for' Cesca Major, author of Maybe Next Time An absolute joy...Laugh out loud funny in places and desperately poignant in others but thankfully not in the least bit soppy' Sarah You can read her Sunlounger story 'Fia McQueen's Great Escape' for Free when you sign up to Pernille's newsletter here;
