On Madvillainy, MF DOOM’s enigmatic lyricism is arguably at its most thrilling. Dumile was born in Hounslow, London on July 13, 1971, the son of a Trinidadian mother and a Zimbabwean father. According to Dumile, he was conceived in the United States because his mother was visiting family and he happened to be born in London. As a child, Dumir moved with his family to Long Island, New York. He grew up in Long Beach, New York. He said he did not remember his childhood in London and that his parents had nothing to do with British culture. However, he remains a British citizen and has never been granted U.S. citizenship.
