About this deal

Jeff Wayne's Musical Version Of The War Of The Worlds- The New Generation- Martian Handling Machine Detailed model kit of the “Martian” figure from the classic 1953 sci-fi movie “The War of the Worlds”. It is evidently taller than any other adaptation (150 feet tall to be exact), besides the 1953 designs of the war machine. In this adaptation, the tripods have been waiting beneath under the ground for countless years to be activated by the returning aliens. Factors that may have influenced the design of the Tripod models in the 2005 movie include the source material, historical context, artistic vision, practical considerations, and technology.

The Narrator discusses the fighting machines emitting a luminous green smoke from joints. A mechanical system which mimics the motions of muscles, and a number of sliding bearings are also mentioned as being integral to fighting machine technology. The devices also apparently contain large quantities of some brown fluid, which is seen to leak out when one is destroyed at Weybridge. This brown substance may turn a more reddish colour, and clump up while in water, but this is uncertain, as so many details in the novel are left slightly ambiguous. Creatures and machines similar to the fighting machines are featured in video games, such as the Annihilator Tripods from Command & Conquer 3, [9] or the Striders from Half-Life [10] Inaccurate coinage [ edit ]The sequel to the 1953 film rarely uses war machines, but in respect to continuity, those seen are based on Albert Nozaki's design.

The fighting machines are described in Jeff Wayne's Musical Version of The War of the Worlds and depicted on the album artwork painted by Michael Trim. This version of the tripods has major inconsistencies when compared to Wells' description in the novel. [ citation needed] Parallel and sequel novels [ edit ] The director and the design team would have had a specific aesthetic in mind for the movie, and the Tripod models would have been designed to fit within that vision. The Tripods needed to be visually striking, memorable, and iconic to help create a lasting impression on the audience. Practical Considerations:The 2005 movie was a modern retelling of the classic story, and the Tripod models were designed to reflect contemporary technology and fears. The design team would have considered how audiences in the 21st century would react to the machines and what features would make them seem more realistic and intimidating. Artistic Vision:
