"Steve Lacy: Gemini Rights Album Review". Pitchfork . Retrieved July 21, 2022. Someone asked me if I felt pressure to make something that people might like. I felt a disconnect, my eyes squinted as I looked up. As I thought about the question, I realized that we always force a separation between the artist (me) and audience (people). But I am not separate. I am people, I just happen to be an artist. Once I understood this, the album felt very easy and fun to make. Gemini Rights is me getting closer to what makes me a part of all things, and that is: feelings. Feelings seem like the only real things sometimes.

Sunshine is encapsulated bliss with lyrics declaring that despite the failure of a relationship the love, passion, and joy is everlasting. The second half of this song with the cacophony of vocals and guitars is absolutely perfect.

Helmet is similar to Sunshine in that the instrumentation prompts a warm and fuzzy sensation inside of you, and Steve's singing and well crafted melodies make you wanna belt out the words with him. There's just too much greatness on this album. I didn't even talk about the intro, Buttons, or Mercury. Like if you allow yourself to get into the summertime headspace which Lacy's trying to bring you into, and vibe with the wamth and jubilance present in this record, you're in for a good time. Gemini Rights is the second and major-label debut studio album by American musician Steve Lacy. It was released on July 15, 2022, by RCA Records. It follows Lacy's debut album Apollo XXI (2019), and was preceded by the singles "Mercury", [5] " Bad Habit" [6] and "Sunshine". [7] "Bad Habit" became Lacy's debut entry on the Billboard Hot 100 and later became his first number one single. Published by Steve Lacy Publishing Designee / Songs Of Universal, Inc. "Steve Lacy – 'Gemini Rights' review: a fearlessly funky follow-up from The Internet guitarist". NME . Retrieved July 16, 2022. Lacy foregrounds his voice more than he has previously, harmonizing with himself and his sisters on “Helmet,” dueting with Fousheé on “Sunshine,” and cooing in an airy falsetto on “Give You the World.” The falsetto is his shakiest and least personal instrument, skewing mechanical on “Amber” and “Cody Freestyle” in ways that pantomime big feelings rather than articulate them. Although he’s often compared to Prince and Stevie Wonder, Pharrell and Solange are more apt reference points—they also struggled to harness their voices early in their careers. os savaitės klausomiausi (Top 100)" (in Lithuanian). AGATA. July 22, 2022 . Retrieved July 22, 2022. I write about my anger, sadness, longing, confusion, happiness, horniness, anger, happiness, confusion, fear, etc., all out of love and all laughable, too. The biggest lesson I learned at the end of this album process was how small we make love. I want to love unconditionally now. I will make love bigger, not smaller. To me, Gemini Rights is a step in the right direction. I’m excited for you to have this album as your own as it is no longer mine. Peace.Published by Steve Lacy Publishing Designee / Songs Of Universal, Inc. Breihan, Tom (July 13, 2022). "Steve Lacy Teams Up With Fousheé On New Single "Sunshine": Listen". Stereogum . Retrieved July 17, 2022. Give you the World is a warm classic with amazing falsetto vocals on a smooth instrumental... The kind of song you can just turn on and lose yourself to with a good pair of headphones on. It has a timeless feel and does very little to date itself, so if I were to play this at my wedding it wouldn't feel out of place at all. Like AT ALL. Wonderfully sentimental.
